Yeboah signs A-League deal after German exit

Australian striker Kwame Yeboah has agreed to terms with an unnamed A-League club, as he heads home after nearly five years of chasing a top-tier breakthrough in Germany.

The 24-year-old, who cut his teeth with Brisbane Roar before signing for Borussia Monchengladbach, is believed to have boarded a plane from Europe to conclude the deal.

He could be available to play as early as round 12 of the competition, having parted company with third division side Fortuna Koln, whom he joined in July after failing to force his way into first team contention at Gladbach.

It’s understood the former Australian youth international won’t be rejoining the troubled Roar.

However, Adelaide United appear to be a possible destination, with their need for a striker becoming acute and recent attempts to sign Socceroo Tomi Juric seeming to hit a brick wall.

Central Coast Mariners, Western Sydney Wanderers or even Melbourne City, who have exiled their marquee Bruno Fornaroli, might also have made made contact.

Heavily touted as a Socceroo-in-waiting during his spell in Germany, Yeboah has been unable - thus far - to take it to the next level.

He sought, and was granted a release by Fortuna last week, having scored once in 12 appearances.

The Queenslander, who can play out wide or more centrally, had previous loan spell at SC Paderborn 07 before signing a two-year contract with Fortuna.

His time in Germany wasn’t helped by injury niggles, the most recent of which sidelined him in September, and he was unable to force his way back in.
