Wellington Phoenix midfielder Callum McCowatt is on his way to Europe to sign with Danish second division side Helsingnor, according to a report in New Zealand.
"Callum McCowatt will not be returning for a second season in the A-League after agreeing to join Danish 1st Division club Helsingør in a move that will see him reunite with former Kiwi team-mates Elijah Just and Dalton Wilkins," reports Stuff's Phillip Rollo.
McCowatt's contract expired on August 31, so Wellington will not receive a transfer fee.
The 21-year-old showed his versatility this year playing on both sides of the field as a winger or a midfielder.
McCowatt managed two goals and two assists in his 27 appearances for the Phoenix this season.
McCowatt is also an international with New Zealand, scoring on his international debut against Ireland in 2019, and also managed to impress while on national team duty at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019.
