Velez into the Copa Sudamericana last 16

Argentine giant Velez Sarsfield eliminated compatriot Belgrano from the Copa Sudamericana after a 2-0 win at Jose Amalfitani stadium erased a first-leg deficit and sent it into the last 16.

Agustin Allione set up youngster Ezequiel Rescaldani for the simplest of finishes in the first half before, after the break, referee Saul Laverni adjudged Esteban Gonzalez had pulled Allione's arm and gave a penalty.

Lucas Pratto did not fail from the spot to seal the clash in the 70th minutue.

"The referee failed us," said Belgrano boss Ricardo Zielinski. "Honestly, Velez have a great team, they do not need this kind of help."

Velez clinched a 2-1 win on aggregate and will face Colombian side La Equidad in the next round after it drew 1-1 at Cobreloa to progress on away goals.

Also progressing was Universidad de Chile, who won 3-1 for a 4-2 aggregate win over Independiente del Valle of Ecuador.

It will face Lanus, which was a 4-1 aggregate winners over fellow Argentine side Racing Club.
