Turkey and Ivory Coast draw 1-1

Didier Drogba scored an injury-time equaliser Wednesday to give Ivory Coast a 1-1 draw with Turkey in an international friendly.

Drogba tapped in a cross from the right in the second minute of injury time in his first match for his country in more than a year.

The Chelsea striker had earlier missed several good chances in front of goal. In the 35th, Turkey goalkeeper Volkan Demirel held onto to a long attempt by Drogba from well outside the penalty area.

Gokhan Unal put the European Championship semifinalists ahead in the 11th minute with a shot into the top right corner of the net.

Turkey next faces European champion Spain in World Cup qualifying. The Spanish lead their group with 12 points, followed by Turkey with eight.
