Promising Sydney FC defender Ben Warland has been ruled out of action for up to three months with a foot fracture.

Recruited from Adelaide United in the middle of last season, Warland is considered an important member of the Sky Blues' defensive rotation but they could now be without the 22-year-old until early 2019.

Warland, who fractured his foot in pre-season training, last featured for the Sky Blues during their first round FFA Cup win over Rockdale City Suns in August, where he played the full 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, in better news for Sydney FC, classy midfield recruit Daniel De Silva has recovered from a hamstring injury and could play in Saturday's FFA Cup semi-final against Western Sydney Wanderers.
