The central defender gave the historic venue the tick of approval for Saturday's derby match against fierce cross-town rivals Western Sydney Wanderers, which will be the first football game at the ground in 30 years.

The pressure will be on the Sky Blues to maintain their impressive home form after leaving the soon-to-be demolished Allianz Stadium but Wilkinson felt there is no reason to believe it couldn't.

"We're looking forward to being at the SCG. We had a run there last week and the pitch is beautiful, it's fantastic," Wilkinson said on Monday.

"I've heard it will be the first football match at the SCG in over 30 years so it's a little bit of an historic occasion.

"What better way to do it than the derby, Hopefully we get a good crowd in and get the result against the Wanderers."

Sydney will share their home games this season between the SCG, Kogarah's Jubilee Oval and Leichhardt Oval.

Wilkinson admitted not having the one home ground would take some getting used to, but was confident his side would make all three grounds difficult places for opposition teams to play at.

"Our home form over the last few years has been very good and while it will be different this year it doesn't mean that can't continue," he said.

"Our first game at home is a must win and then we will plan for when we play at Kogarah and Leichhardt a little bit down the track.

"All three are fantastic grounds and we'll be doing everything we can keep the home ground advantage no matter which one we are playing at."
