Tim Cahill's time with New York Red Bulls has come to an end after the Australia star agreed to end his three-year tenure with the club - with a decision on his future to be announced within the next hour.
Amid speculation Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua is interested in signing the Socceroos striker, Cahill has become a free agent after leaving the Major League Soccer club he won a host of individual honours with.
Fresh from Asian Cup success with Australia, Cahill is now looking forward to the next phase of his career with the UAE, Qatar and even a return to the Premier League being touted.
"I've enjoyed every moment of my time at the Red Bulls and leave with great memories," he told Red Bulls' official website.
"I joined with the ambition of helping to grow and positively affect soccer in the US and I feel immensely proud of what we achieved as a team during my time in the MLS.
"Winning the Supporters' Shield was, without doubt, one of the best moments I have experienced in my career and I am now looking forward to my next chapter, of which I will announce in due course."
