The Celtic boilover cost the Brendan Rodgers-coached side, who were also missing Daniel Arzani through injury, the chance of reclaiming top spot in the league and was their second loss inside a week.

Injury cost both sides a number of their brightest stars with Rogic and Arzani on the Celtic medical report, while Hibernian's Milligan and Boyle were also not fit for the clash.

Aussie striker Jamie Maclaren was an unused substitute.

Hibs midfielder Vykintas Slivka helped his side to an electric start when he found the back of the net after only 46 seconds.

Slivka finished off a sweeping move which had the ball moving all the way through the Celtic defence before curling past the outstretched arms of the keeper.

Celtic were on the back foot in the early stages with shot-stopper Gordon forced to make a number of key saves to keep the visitors in the contest.

Odsonne Edouard's fired an effort over the bar but Celtic were off the pace and struggled to keep up with a rejuvenated Hibs outfit.

Striker Florian Kamberi wrapped up the win for the Edinburgh based club mid-way through the second half to give Hibernian back-to-back victories.

Celtic pushed hard in the dying stages but it wasn't to be as the Easter Road faithful celebrated a shock victory.
