In one of the weirdest stories to come out of the international break, the forward - who has represented Senegal 21 times - will remain in Italy after Inter refused to release him, claiming they were not properly informed.
Abdoulaye Sow, vice president of the Senegalese FA, released a statement in an attempt to clarify the matter.
"We have sent an email to Inter to inform them of the summoned player, but it was sent to the old email address that Internazionale Milano no longer uses. They changed their address," the statement said.
"At the current moment, the player can not leave and can not be called to join us. His club is uncompromising."
Keita Balde was actually born in Spain, in a small town near Barcelona, but chose to represent the country of his parents.
The 23-year-old is on loan at Inter from Monaco and has played 13 matches for the Italian side this season, mainly off the bench.
Keita made his debut for Senegal in 2016, and played one match at the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Colombia.
