Oceania Club World Championship winners, Sydney FC have maintained their charge towards the inaugural A-League season kick-off by defeating the Belconnen Blue Devils 1-0 in a trial match played on Friday night.

The New South Wales Premier League team put in a gritty performance at their Belconnen Soccer Centre home, but a 33rd minute strike by striker Saso Petrovski was enough to see Sydney maintain their unbeaten record since the club's conception five months ago.

Pierre Littbarski?s men have not lost in their first 15 matches, and did well to overcome a determined Belconnen side in freezing Canberra conditions.

The A-League season kick-off for Sydney FC begins with a home game against Melbourne Victory at Aussie Stadium on August 28.
