Ronaldo says team comes first

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is pleased to have netted his first Champions League hat-trick for his club but insists its latest victory over Ajax is the most important thing to come out of the clash.

Ronaldo struck in the 42nd, 79th and 81st minutes of the 4-1 win in Amsterdam to collect his second treble in four days and 17th in total for Madrid since his move from Manchester United in 2009.

Happy though he was with the three goals, Ronaldo felt the three points were the key thing as Madrid made it two wins from two in Group D.

"I'm very happy because we won and we played very well. This result is important to build confidence ahead of the next game that we have," said Ronaldo, whose side takes on arch rivals Barcelona at the Nou Camp this weekend.

"Scoring three goals is crucial for me and gives me confidence. It's important for me to score three goals, but the most important thing is always the victory of the team. I repeat that I'm very happy with the way things have gone in this match," he added.
