Roma won 3-0 at struggling Chievo with Stephan El Shaarawy, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov on target to help the Giallorossi conserve fourth place in Serie A.
El Shaarawy split the hosts' shaky defence for a ninth-minute goal, while Dzeko struck in the 18th, also firing home from the right side.
Chievo's Filip Djordjevic had two efforts denied but Kolarov sealed the win early after the break off an assist from Dzeko, who then fired against the bar before El Shaarawy hit the post.
Roma occupy the last UEFA Champions League place, leading city rivals Lazio - who beat troubled Empoli 1-0 the previous day - on goal difference.
But AC Milan and Atalanta have a chance to move past Roma when they meet Cagliari and Spal, respectively, this weekend.
Leaders Juventus visit Sassuolo and second-place Napoli, who chase nine points adrift, are away to Fiorentina.
