Brisbane Roar have bolstered their attacking ranks by signing ex-Melbourne Victory youth captain Joey Katebian for the upcoming A-League season.
Katebian has agreed to a one-year contract with the Roar to reunite with John Aloisi, who was his youth mentor at the Victory, before the former Australia striker great took up the senior coaching role in Brisbane.
"He's a striker who definitely knows where the goal is," Aloisi said.
"Over the coming season I believe he will show what he's capable of doing and contribute to our team being successful."
Despite a stunning scoring record of a goal per game for Victory's youth team in the National Premier Leagues Victoria competition, Katebian failed to crack their A-League team, and made just one senior appearance off the bench.
Now, the 20 year-old is in line to make his Brisbane debut as early as Wednesday night's FFA Cup clash with Perth Glory at Ballymore Stadium.
"I'm genuinely excited to be here and the focus is now to continue to develop as a footballer and get game time," Katebian said.
Katebian said he wanted to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Maclaren, who has cemented himself as one of the A-League's premier strikers since moving to the Roar.
"He's clearly a great striker, very agile, scored a lot of goals last season and earned a call up to the Socceroos side," he said.
"We have a number of really good players on the flanks to get the ball into us in the centre, and I'm really excited about playing alongside the boys."
