Reddy the gloveman for A-League's journeyman's XI

With Liam Reddy joining Western Sydney Wanderers to stand alongside Isaka Cernak as the only players to have had six A-League clubs on their CV, we have put together an A-League journeyman's XI to pay tribute to those players that have travelled far and wide to pursue their footballing dream.

The criteria was players must have played for at least four teams to qualify. Over the course of 11 A-League seasons it's a pretty mean feat with numerous members of the selection having spent time at now defunct clubs.

So apologies to the likes of Melbourne Victory vice-captain Leigh Broxham and retired Central Coast Mariners captain John Hutchinson who didn't stand a chance, having played their entire A-League careers as one-club men - totalling 419 appearances.

Here's the A-League Journeyman's XI

Journeyman's XI

Goalkeeper: Liam Reddy (190 games) Clubs: Newcastle Jets, Brisbane Roar, Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers.

A quality shot-stopper who at 34 still has years ahead of him if he can steer clear of the controversy that has culminated in the early departure from numerous sides.

Right-back: Daniel Mullen (87 games, 2 goals) Clubs: Adelaide United, Melbourne Victory, Newcastle Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers

Capped at just 20 for the Socceroos the now 26 year-old looks to have settled in Newcastle after signing on until the end of the 2016-2017 campaign.

Centre-back: Michael Beauchamp (110 games, 3 goals)
Clubs: Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Heart, Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers

The inuagural captain of the Wanderers - was a member of the 2006 World Cup Socceroos and represented the senior national team 22 times.

Centre-back: Nikolai Topor-Stanley (219 games, 7 goals)
Clubs: Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory, Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers

A consistent performer for almost a decade now and at just 30 he seems destined to set a new record for most A-League appearances by an outfield player.

Left-back: Scott Jamieson (163 games, 2 goals)
Clubs: Adelaide United, Perth Glory, Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers

Coming into his own now under the guidance of Tony Popovic, he is as a rare commodity in the modern game - a naturally left-footed left-sided defender.

Defensive midfielder: Zenon Caravella (147 games, 2 goals)
Clubs: New Zealand Knights, Gold Coast United, Adelaide United, Newcastle Jets

May not have got the attention of many of his more illustrious team-mates but a club champion for the Reds and the coach's pick one season at Gold Coast show just how highly-rated this techincally sound midfielder was.

Right midfielder: Nick Ward (142 games, 15 goals)
Clubs: Perth Glory (twice), Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix, Newcastle Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers

Winner of the U-20 Young Player of the Year Award in the first year of the A-League was proof of his ability but a career blighted by injuries never reached the heights it probably should have.

Left midfielder: Isaka Cernak (79 games, 5 goals)
Clubs: Brisbane Roar, North Queensland Fury, Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix, Perth Glory, Central Coast Mariners

The talented attacking midfielder showed his potential in glimpses and six clubs obviously saw something in him... but unfortunately for all involved the good times didn't last long.

Attacking-central midfielder: Marcos Flores (73 games, 17 goals)
Clubs: Adelaide United, Melbourne Victory, Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets

A stunning first full season for the Reds - that culminated in the Johnny Warren Medal - lit up the competition and made the Argentine a fan favourite everywhere he played but he was never the same after departing for a stint in China.

Second striker: Jeremy Brockie (132 games, 39 goals)
Clubs: New Zealand Knights, Sydney FC, North Queensland Fury, Newcastle Jets, Wellington Phoenix

Bursting onto the scene as a teenager for the Knights, Brockie endured some rough times but found his groove at Wellington as an attacking outlet and goalscorer.

Centre forward: Shane Smeltz (166 games, 87 goals)
Clubs: Wellington Phoenix, Gold Coast United, Perth Glory, Sydney FC

Two-times A-League Golden Boot, Johnny Warren Medal winner and second leading goalscorer in A-League history say it all for the Kiwi marksman.

Some notables who just missed selection are Roda JC midfielder Rostyn Griffiths, Wanderers ace Mitch Nichols, veteran Glory No.1 Ante Covic and Victory custodian Danny Vukovic.
