Quake fails to stop Italian game

An earthquake that registered 3.6 on the Richter scale failed to stop a match between L'Aquila and Catanzaro on Sunday.

The quake was felt during the fourth division game but referee Vincenzo Todaro decided to continue nonetheless, Italian news agency Ansa reported.

L'Aquila is the capital of the Abruzzo region in which a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in April 2009 killed more than 300 people.

The medieval city of L'Aquila itself was ravaged by the quake with most of its historic buildings destroyed and tens of thousands of people left homeless.
