Padova holds off Sydney FC

Sydney FC kicked off its six-game tour of Italy with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Padova.

Three goals in the opening quarter-of-an-hour had the home side 2-1 up, Padova efforts on five and 15 minutes sandwiching a Brett Emerton goal.

Padova went 3-1 up in the 80th minute, with Sky Blues midfielder Nick Carle netting a consolation goal from the penalty spot for the visitor with five minutes remaining.

Sydney next plays Udinese on Thursday afternoon (Friday morning AEST).
