Sources close to the club have confirmed the out-of-favour 27-year-old playmaker - valued by Celtic in the vicinity of $20 million - is no longer paramount in coach Neil Lennon’s plans, paving the way for a possible move to Japan’s J1 League or a destination elsewhere in Europe.
Rogic almost joined Graham Arnold on loan at Vegalta Sendai back in 2013 during the Australia coach’s brief tenure there.
And there are suggestions Rogic might be on the radar of Ange Postecoglou at newly-crowned champions Yokohama F. Marinos.
If not there, another J1 destination looms as a distinct possibility were Rogic to be sold with three-and-a-half years of his contract still to run.
The price, however, might yet prove a stumbling block.
Etched into Celtic Park immortality after his Scottish Cup final-winning goal clinched the treble in 2017, Rogic has been usurped by the likes of Callum McGregor, James Forrest and the free-scoring Ryan Christie this season, amassing just 18 minutes off the bench in Celtic’s past seven games, six of which have been victories.
He has made just 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.
With Rogic’s immediate Bhoys future shrouded in uncertainty, that of fellow Socceroo and Manchester City loanee Daniel Arzani is equally opaque.
Arzani, 20, has yet to feature in a first-team squad for Celtic since recovering from an ACL rupture, sustained on debut over 14 months ago.
And with a senior return still looking several weeks away at best, Australian football’s brightest young prospect might also be nearing a Celtic Park crossroads.
Arzani has only made a smattering of reserve team appearances and a 20-minute cameo for the Olyroos in Qatar since his operation in Barcelona late last year.
And the clamour to see him back in action, whether in the Scottish Premiership or elsewhere, is tangible.
The Olyroos hierarchy were hoping to call Arzani into combat for January’s AFC U-23 Championship in Thailand, with the 23-man squad to be named on Monday.
However, with his match fitness and availability a matter of conjecture, he will now instead head to Dubai with the rest of the squad for Celtic’s winter training camp.
A fleeting return to the A-League, where he sprung forth so spectacularly with Melbourne City, might possibly provide a springboard for Arzani to reboot his future as a short-term option in an environment where he’d be nurtured and cherished.
With his loan spell at Celtic expiring at season’s end, decisions over his direction will need to be made by Lennon, parent club Manchester City and his agent, former Socceroo Vince Grella.
