Matildas legend Lisa De Vanna has taken to Twitter to slam Netherlands winger Shanice van de Sanden for wearing a USA jersey minutes after the Dutch lost the FIFA Women's World Cup final on Monday morning (AEST).
Van de Sanden swapped jerseys with USA midfielder Morgan Brian, just moments after the United States recorded a 2-0 victory.
The pair were teammates at French club Olympique Lyon for five months in 2018, and while it's not an uncommon practice it seems De Vanna was not impressed at the timing of the gesture.
"Seeing a Netherlands player WEARING a USA Jesery straight away after the final whistle is one of the most disrespectful things I've seen. Time and place for that," she tweeted.
Both Brian and Van de Sanden reverted to wearing their own jerseys for the medal ceremony that took place a few minutes after the final whistle.
