The company that manages Lionel Messi's image rights says the player has donated more than 72,000 euros (A$108,802) to the medical charity Doctors Without Borders after winning a court case against a newspaper.
The money was awarded to Messi for an article the La Razon newspaper published implying that the player was doping and wore a toupee when he captained Argentina's 2014 FIFA World Cup final-losing side in Brazil.
Messi was reportedly awarded €72,783.20 (A$109,977.90), which he has donated to charity.
The company says Messi will continue to defend himself from accusations and insinuations against his honour.
Messi will next be in action when Barcelona take on Sevilla in La Liga on Saturday evening (Sunday morning AEDT).
