Matildas superstar Kerr nominated for WSL Player of the Season award

Matildas' captain Sam Kerr is in the running to be named the FA Women's Super League's best after being nominated for the Player of the Season Award,

Kerr has been in impeccable form this season for Chelsea to help the London side lead the competition with only two games to play. 

The Superstar striker shares the lead in the Golden Boot rankings with 18 goals in 20 matches alongside Arsenal's Dutch forward Vivianne Miedema.

Now in her second season at Chelsea, The 27-year-old Perth product has become a key part of their attack, forming a brilliant combination with Fran Kerby which has been likened to the famous Manchester United strike partnership of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole.
Chelsea also remains alive in the UEFA Women's Champions League with a semi-final second leg clash with Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Kerr will be hoping for big performances to close out the season and hopefully provide her with the final push to take out the WSL Player of the Season title.
The fan-chosen gong is open for voting and Kerr will be relying on Aussie football fans to help her get over the line.

Other nominees for the award include Chloe Kelly of Manchester City, Everton's Izzy Christiansen, City Midfielder Sam Mewis, Chelsea's Fran Kirby and Arsenal star Vivianne Miedema.

The award winner will be announced on May 14.
