And that will do it as a North London derby in the Premier League ends in a draw for the third consecutive game. Wimmer's own-goal in the first half was cancelled out by Kane's penalty. Both sides rattled the woodwork and a point seems like the fairest result. Tottenham stay fifth, while Arsenal mis

And that will do it for the first half of a typically entertaining North London derby. Tottenham were the better side early on, but as the match wore on, Arsenal got the hang of their opponent's back three and created more danger, taking the lead not too long ago thanks to Wimmer's own goal. It's al

Harry Kane is thrown right back into the Spurs XI after a month on the sidelines, but Dele Alli's injury means that Eric Dier moves into a midfield role, with Kevin Wimmer partnering Jan Vertonghen in defence in the absence of Toby Alderweireld.
    • 0'
Arsene Wenger names what looks like his strongest available side, with Alexis Sanchez beating out Olivier Giroud to a striking berth, while Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka are the chosen midfield pair.

These sides couldn't be separated in the season series in 2015-16, drawing both games in the Premier League. However, the Gunners did manage to knock Spurs out of the EFL Cup in that campaign.
    • 0'
Tottenham are the only side yet to lose in the league, but five draws from 10 games see them trail leaders Chelsea by five points. They're winless in six across all competitions, but have only conceded five goals so far, a league low.
    • 0'
It's been a good couple of months for Arsene Wenger's team, as they've won 10 of their last 11 in all competitions. in fact, their only defeat came against Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

Hello and welcome to our live commentary of the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emrates. The Gunners are three points ahead of their local rivals, and have a chance to end the weekend with an outright lead atop the table.
    • 1'
      Off we go!
    • 3'
It looks like Spurs are playing with a back three here, with Dier joining Vertonghen and Wimmer in defence, with Walker and Rose playing further up as wing-backs. How will this system work against an in-form Arsenal?
    • 5'
First glimpse of a chance for Spurs as Walker gets his head to the ball at the back post, but he can't guide it down and on target. Good from the visitors to overload down the left flank to get that cross in.
    • 6'
Wimmer becomes the first player to be booked, and I'm certain that he won't be the last. He challenges Coquelin for the ball but is late and fails to pull out, bodying the midfielder to the floor.
    • 7'
Once again, the Arsenal right flank is exposed as Son goes charging into acres of space, with Mustafi and Koscielny failing to get across to cover. They're lucky that the low ball to Kane at the back post was a little early.
    • 9'
Arsenal lead the head-to-head series between these two, with 75 wins against Tottenham's 55. The home side are looking confident in possession for the moment, although they don't really have a target to aim for in the box.
    • 11'
A glimpse of the danger that Spurs can cause as Iwobi turns the ball over, with Cech forced to race well off his line to clear the ball ahead of an onrushing attacker. Arsenal just need to be careful that their defenders don't get sucked too far forward.
    • 13'
Fairly even start to the derby, although the visitors have definitely found more space in the final third than their opponents when attacking on the break. Pochettino will be satisfied with what he's seen.
    • 15'
Walcott is pinned to Vertonghen and attempts to spin away from the defender, but is brought down. The referee deems it to be fair physical contact, to the obvious displeasure of the forward and the home fans.
    • 17'
Tottenham's defensive shape is proving to be effective at nullifying Arsenal. Mustafi, who hasn't started entirely well here, misses a clearance and nearly lets Kane through, but Cech is in position to smother.
    • 19'
Arsenal win the ball back, and Coquelin spreads it wide to Iwobi. The young midfielder appears to wait for the overlapping run of Monreal, but instead crosses to the back post for Alexis, who gets nowhere near it.
    • 21'
THAT WAS CLOSE! Eriksen is allowed far too much space at the top of the box, and he clips in a teasing cross that Kane flicks to the back post, but his header is narrowly wide with Cech worried!
    • 23'
There's a lack of intensity and focus from Arsenal at the moment, with Walcott caught offside - the third such decision against the Gunners. Meanwhile, Spurs look full of purpose and intent on the ball.
    • 25'
A period of Spurs possession ends when Wanyama hammers the ball into orbit from the top of the box. Arsenal will let him have those type of shots all day - although he may well have a Danny Rose moment in him.
    • 27'
Eriksen tries to tease in another ball between the centre-backs but this time, Mustafi does well, clearing the ball on the slide before Son can pounce at the top of the box. Spurs getting closer.
    • 29'
The midfield battle is already quite intriguing. Coquelin and Xhaka have their match in Wanyama and Dembele - a quartet of tough-tackling, physical players who are sure to keep the referee on his toes.
    • 31'
Alexis hoists a nice little ball to the top of the box for Coquelin to strike, but the midfielder plants his volley into the back of Walcott. Moments later, Bellerin loads a cross towards the back post, but it's defended by Dier.
    • 33'
Good attack from Walcott and then Bellerin down the right, but Arsenal are badly lacking targets in the box. Rose throws himself into some challenges but the Gunners keep the ball alive. Ozil plays in Alexis at the top of the box, but his half-volley is well over.
    • 34'
Walker is down and in need of treatment, with the physio escorting him to the side of the pitch for further attention. Back on the field, Alexis picks out Ozil at the edge of the area, but the German's first-timer isn't accurate.
    • 36'
THAT WAS A GREAT ATTACK! Arsenal look more like their usual selves as Alexis releases Ozil, who bides his time before returning the ball to the Chilean, who finds Iwobi for the finish, but the youngster lashes it down the throat of Lloris!
    • 38'
ARSENAL FLOODING FORWARD! The Gunners are just starting to hum as Alexis wins the ball in the opposition half. Iwobi and Walcott combine down the left, but the latter's cut-back is intercepted. The hosts should have tested the keeper there at least.
    • 40'
SHOULD HAVE BEEN 1-0! Arsenal break with pace again and Walcott is put through down the right side, before hammering a cannon off the frame of the goal! Ozil has a difficult task to convert the rebound on the volley, and he can't keep it down.
    • 41'
Arsenal are clearly in the ascendancy as the first half winds to a close. The way things are going, Pochettino will be relieved to go into the break with the score at 0-0. Testing times for Tottenham.
    • 42'
ARSENAL OPEN THE SCORING! The referee pulled the game back for a free-kick after a foul on Bellerin, and Ozil's delivery is headed into his own net by Wimmer. He was under pressure from a few players - who were all offside.
    • 44'
The communication between Mustafi and Koscielny has also improved, as the early balls from midfield that caused them so many problems earlier are now proving to be nothing but routine.
    • 46'
      Here we go again!
    • 48'
Much like the start of the first half, Son has a good chance to run into space down the flank. He nutmegs Koscielny, but before he can take the crucial touch inside the area, Bellerin gets back to slide the ball away.
    • 50'
PENALTY TO TOTTENHAM! Dembele wrestles away from Coquelin but is confronted by Monreal and Koscielny at the top of the box. It appears that the latter tripped him up and a huge chance for the visitors.
    • 51'
KANE MAKES NO MISTAKE! The striker scores on his return to action as he slots it down the middle, with Cech diving out of the way. It's all square in the derby.
    • 53'
Arsenal have gifted Tottenham a way back into the game, and they need to watch themselves as the visitors attack down the left. The Gunners have failed to get going in the second period.
    • 55'
Ozil spreads the ball centrally for Xhaka, who is urged by the crowd to shoot. He takes a split second too long to make up his mind, and doesn't get a hold of it properly, sending it miles over.
    • 57'
CECH WITH AN IMPORTANT SAVE! Son is pinned between two defenders, but he manages to flick the ball on to Eriksen, who strikes it on the half-volley between the wickets of Bellerin, but the keeper parries!
    • 59'
Wimmer gets his head to a dangerous cross from Alexis, and this time, he diverts it over the bar instead of into the back of the net. It's finely poised at the moment, and we may see some substitutions very soon.
    • 61'
MY WORD MONREAL HAS JUST SAVED ARSENAL! Tottenham bide their time at the top of the box, before bursting in with Rose's run down the right. His ball across the face of goal is begging to be converted by Kane at the far post, but the Spanish full-back throws his body in the way to block it!
    • 63'
WHAT HAPPENED? Iwobi shifts the ball onto his right boot and hooks a tremendous ball into the box that Xhaka runs onto in complete space. However, he doesn't make contact when even a little leap would have surely put Lloris in a tough position! He needed to throw himself at that one.
    • 65'
SI A. Ramsey SO F. Coquelin
    • 65'
Ramsey has been summoned from the bench to replace Coquelin. First change of the game from either manager, and it's an attacking one at that as Arsenal chase a go-ahead goal.
    • 65'
Eriksen tries his luck from a long way out, but it flies well over the bar. The game has settled in the second period now, with very little between the sides. The next goal, if there is to be one, may well win it.
    • 67'
Much like the opening half, Arsenal have weathered the Tottenham storm and are now trying to play their way back into the game with their patient passing game. Just over 20 minutes remain here at the Emirates.
    • 69'
The counter was on for Tottenham as the visitors have numbers against a reeling Arsenal defence, and Koscielny brings down Kane from behind, conceding a free-kick and getting himself booked.
    • 70'
SI O. Giroud SO F. Coquelin
    • 70'
Arsenal make a second substitution, as Iwobi is replaced by Giroud.
    • 71'
      SI A. Oxlade-Chamberlain SO F. Coquelin
    • 71'
All the cards are on the table for Arsenal as Wenger makes his final substitution, with Oxlade-Chamberlain coming on for Walcott.
    • 73'
SI V. Janssen SO F. Coquelin
    • 73'
Dier fouls Alexis, but what drew the referee's card out of his pocket was the fact that he ran away with the ball after the whistle sounded.
    • 73'
Surprised it's taken Pochettino that long to bring off Kane, who is still well short of full fitness. Janssen is his logical replacement.
    • 73'
You can tell that Wenger wants to win this game given the positive nature of his substitutions in the second period. However, it's two of his starters that nearly combine to score as Alexis plays in Ozil, who has a little too much to do when turning and finishing past an alert Lloris.
    • 75'
NEEDED MORE CONVICTION! Some good hustle down the right sees Arsenal win the ball back, and Oxlade-Chamberlain intelligently lays it into the path of Bellerin. The full-back takes a touch before his shot, which allows a defender to get back and make the block.
    • 78'
Both sides continue to look better when breaking against the defence. Arsenal are still the better side, but they're lacking some composure on the ball, with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey both rushing attacks.
    • 80'
SI K. Trippier SO F. Coquelin
    • 80'
Walker's fitness woes have finally taken over as Trippier is forced on in his place.
    • 81'
Tottenham haven't drawn four straight games in the league for eight years, but as time goes in, it's looking like the most logical conclusion to the North London derby after a cagey second half.
    • 83'
OFF THE WOODWORK! Eriksen's free-kick from the right-hand side is missed by everyone, and it bounces through to rebound off the far post! Any Tottenham touch and that was surely in!
    • 85'
IMPORTANT DEFENDING FROM VERTONGHEN! Arsenal fashion another decent chance as Alexis shifts the ball onto his right boot before lifting a cross to the back post that finds the Belgian in position to block Giroud's header!
    • 87'
A series of crosses late on as Tottenham are forced to withdraw everyone back in their own half to defend against a Gunners barrage. The visitors have done very well dealing with the high ball in this game.
    • 89'
SI H. Winks SO F. Coquelin
    • 89'
Moment of panic for Arsenal as Cech slips when chasing the ball, but Son doesn't push for it hard enough. That's the last we'll see from him as Winks is brought on to replace him.
    • PENALTY SHOOTOUT
    • 90'
Arsenal continue to try to manufacture an opening from the cross, but Tottenham, as they've done all game, keep the door shut from open play. A last cross from Monreal is smothered by Lloris.
    • EXTRA TIME
    • 45'
There was a clash that left Mustafi writhing in agony, and the referee stops the game as it appears to be a head injury. It looks like he collided with Coquelin, and that looked painful.
    • 90'
GOOD DEFENDING! The ball is at the feet of Bellerin, who clips in a great cross that Giroud leaps for but misses. The replacement full-back is forced to clear the ball just ahead of Alexis.
    • 45'
No less than Arsenal have deserved after their enterprise in the last 15 minutes or so. Tottenham have to be careful as Arsenal take offense to a whack on the head of Walcott by Wanyama for the second time in this game. Tempers flare, and the referee has to sort this out.
    • 90'
Tottenham are well-organised at the back, but are left breathing a sigh of relief as a foul against Wimmer goes uncalled as Giroud barrels in to connect with another good cross from Alexis.
