From then on the Toffees piled on the pressure, but could find no way past the brick wall that they call Tom Heaton. Sean Dyche's men seized their opportunity late in the match, with Arfield netting in the 90th minute after Gudmondsson's strike cannoned back off the crossbar.

As the half-time whistle goes it is the hosts who leave the pitch with a surprise lead. Sam Vokes' strike just before the half came via a gift from Maarten Stekelenburg, the Dutchman haplessly pawing the ball into the striker's path after Scott Arfield's shot looked like it would trickle wide. Romelu Lukaku has found a rich vein of form in recent weeks. The Belgian has six goals in his last five premier league games, though he has received little support from his team-mates in the goalscoring stakes. Gareth Barry is the Merseyside club’s second highest scorer this season with two goals.

Hosts Burnley made a solid, if unspectacular, start to life in the Premier League and have looked impressive on home territory. They have made Turf Moor a fortress, losing just one home game so far this season. They have picked up all of their seven Premier League Points on home soil.

And we're off! Burnley get us underway kicking from left to right.
    • 2'
CLOSE! Burnley play themselves into all kinds of trouble, with Michael Keane gifting the ball to Yannick Bolasie who drives straight at the Clarets back four. Keane again fails to clear convincingly and the ball drops to Kevin Mirallas in the box who forces a fine save from Tom Heaton.
    • 3'
The Everton corner comes to nothing and the hosts are able to avoid an early scare.
    • 4'
The Toffees surge forward again as Romelu Lukaku plays Bolasie into some space. The Congolese winger manages to force a corner off Ben Mee.
    • 5'
Mirallas drills the ball into the Burnley box and the ricochet bounces up to Bolasie. The winger attempts a spectacular overhead kick, but the ball bounces tamely wide of Heaton's far post.
    • 6'
Stephen Ward is in need of some medical attention as he is on the receiving end of a robust Ashley WIlliams challenge.
    • 8'
HERE COME THE HOSTS - Burnley showing some real persistence there as they fire off a series of shots, all of which are blocked by Everton defenders. The ball skews out for a corner, from which Ben Mee finds Michael Kightly at the far post, but the winger fires over the bar.
    • 10'
Idrissa Gueye is pulling the strings in the Everton midfield at the moment. The Senegalese international is sprays a wonderful ball out to Seamus Coleman, but the right back loses possession.
    • 12'
Ross Barkley works himself some space on the left flank, and teases the ball across the Burnley boss. Mee is across quickly though to snuff out the danger.
    • 14'
GREAT CHALLENGE! Ward recovers brilliantly to put in a sliding challenge to defy Mirallas. Lukaku's effort from outside the box is parried by Heaton into the Belgian wingers path, but Ward slides in to deny the Everton man. The flag was up anyway but still an excellent challenge.
    • 15'
GOOD SAVE! Heaton is called upon again and is forced to make a smart save from a firmly hit Barkley strike. The Everton man cut in from the left and unloaded but the England keeper was on hand to deny his international team-mate.
    • 17'
Burnley have responded well to those two scares and burst forwards with Johann Berg Gudmundsson. His teasing cross is aimed towards Sam Vokes and Maarten Stekelenburg is forced to rush from his goal to punch clear.
    • 18'
Scott Arfield receives the first booking of the game, as he slides in late on Coleman.
    • 20'
Everton camped outside the Burnley box are looking for a way to break down their packed defence, but they soon run out of ideas and Coleman's idle cross reaches Heaton.

    • 24'
Some resolute defending from Marney, as he dives in front of Mirallas' strike and then releases Arfield further up the pitch.
    • 25'
A rather harsh booking for Idrissa Gueye, who is guilty of a slight tug on Arfield in the middle of the pitch.
    • 27'
FREE-KICK - Kightly blocks the run of Barkley and is punished with a free-kick in a dangerous area for the visitors. Gareth Barry delivers the ball deep towards Ashley WIlliams, but the former Swansea skipper is penalised for climbing on his marker.
    • 29'
Sean Dyche's men will be eager to avoid conceding too many unnecessary free-kicks today as three of the last four Premier League goals Burnley have conceded have been from set pieces .
    • 31'
It's clear that Burnley are looking to drag Everton into an aerial battle today, as the hosts have looked for the long ball up to Vokes on several occasions this half. The Welshman is a force in the air and has had the better of Phil Jagielka a couple of times so far.
    • 33'
Ben Mee is forced to make a last ditch challenge to cover his tracks, as the ball squirms through to Lukaku in the box. Mee slides in successfully to deny the striker a clear cut chance.

    • 38'

    • 41'
Arfield, starting his first game in over a month, again arrives in late on Barry and is really walking a tightrope here.
    • 43'

And the game is back on, with Everton kicking off the second half one goal down.
    • 47'

    • 53'
CLOSE!!! The ball drops to Gueye in central midfield and he slides Mirallas in on the left wing. The Belgian flashes his cross across the face of goal but the ball is just out of reach for Lukaku who would have been aiming at an unguarded goal.
    • 55'
Mirallas lifts the ball into Burnley's box from a free-kick and Keane is forced to head behind and concede another corner. Once again though the set piece comes to nothing as Williams commits a foul at the far post.

GOOOAALL!!! Great finish! Bolasie shows his confidence as he takes the ball off team-mate Lukaku to drive into the Burnley box and fire low past Heaton. The Toffees caught the hosts on the break there as Mee horribly misjudged the timing of his interception to create an enormous amount of space for
    • 59'
A reluctant assist from Lukaku who had the ball snatched from him by Bolasie, he won't be complaining though with the scores now level at 1-1.
    • 61'
Ward breaks down the Burnley left and beats Bolasie to whip in a cross. Phil Jagielka clears well and its out for a Burnley throw-in.
    • 63'
A poor kick from Stekelenburg lands right at the feet of Hendrick in the centre circle. The Burnley man takes aim from range, but his shot does not have the legs and the goalkeeper is able to recover.
    • 66'
CLOSE! A smart exchange between Bolasie and Coleman sends the fullback flying down the right wing. He cuts inside and slides the ball across looking for Lukaku. The move is stopped by a perfectly timed Keane interception and Everton have to settle for a corner.

    • 77'
Gueye fires from distance, but it is an easy one for Heaton to gather.
    • 79'
Nervy moments for the Turf Moor home crowd, as Everton fire a barrage of crosses into the box. The ball sits up for Coleman and he drills into a crowd of bodies. The ball almost falls for Lukaku, but the Belgian cannot bring it under his spell.
    • 80'
GREAT SAVE!!! A bolt from the blue as Bolasie fires from an outrageous distance and almost catches Heaton off guard. The winger must be at least 30 yards from goal, but his strike forces the Burnley keeper to back-peddle and tip the ball over his own bar.
