    • KICK OFF
    • PENALTY SHOOTOUT
    • 90'
      FT: Burnley 2-0 Watford.
    • 90'
CHANCE! A sight of goal for Success, teed up by Deeney, but from the edge of the area he curls high and wide.
    • 90'
Ighalo wrestles his way towards a hopeful punt, but does so illegally and referee Jones blows up for a foul just as he's about to pull the trigger.
    • EXTRA TIME
    • 45'
      HT: Burnley 1-0 Watford.
    • 90'
SI M. Kightly SO S. Defour
    • 90'
Gudmundsson's hard work is rewarded with a short rest as Michael Kightly replaces him.
    • HALF TIME
    • 45'
Lowton bumps into the progressing Holebas and takes a card as the hosts try to see the game through to the interval.
    • 45'
SAVE! This is really comfortable again for Heaton. A set-piece routine sees Holebas pass into Perreyra's path. Crossing from the right, he picks out Ighalo, whose header is gathered safely at the bottom corner by Heaton.
    • 90'
With Watford pushing on, Burnley have the numbers to break if they should so wish. Vokes lays off for Arfield on the way, who looks to do just that with a return ball, but the tiring forward had not read his intention and allows the ball to pass.
    • 45'
There are two minutes of stoppage time and Watford have a free-kick deep into the Burnley half...
    • 90'
Four minutes to be added. Surely there is no way back for Watford at this late stage...
    • 0'
That's all from Turf Moor! Thanks for joining us as Burnley registered a second win of the season. Goodbye!
    • 0'
Mazzarri's Hornets were no match for their hosts, in terms of quality, work rate and organisation. It was simple but effective all day long from Burnley.
    • 0'
A thoroughly deserved win for Burnley. Goals from Hendrick and Keane - both assisted by Defour - proved the difference, but their fitness levels to harry and close out Watford as they hoped to respond was equally crucial.
    • 0'
Here come the players! We'll shortly be back under way...
    • 0'
By contrast, Burnley have been solid and efficient, if not spectacular. Hendrick's header has them in front at the midway point.
    • 0'
Burnley are worthy of their half-time lead, but that might be more due to Watford's ineptitude than any fine work by the hosts. Mazzarri's men passed the ball around calmly for the opening five minutes, before descending into chaos. They have been pretty awful.
    • 0'
Here they come! Tom Heaton leads out the claret-clad hosts, while Troy Deeney fronts the queue for all-white Watford.
    • 0'
The teams are making their way into the tunnel at Turf Moor. Kick-off is just a few short minutes away!
    • 0'
Despite the recent stalemates, these matches have consistently been entertaining affairs since the turn of the century, with the last 20 matches between the two averaging around four goals per game. One particularly barmy clash on this ground in April 2003 ended 7-4 to Watford. Walter Mazzarri's fre
    • 0'
The two sides have drawn five of their previous six meetings, with Watford winning the other 3-2 back in 2012. Current Burnley boss Sean Dyche was in charge of the Hornets that day.
    • 0'
Two changes for Burnley then, with Scott Arfield dropping to the bench and Gray serving the first game of his ban. In come Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Sam Vokes. Just the one switch for Watford as Nordin Amrabat replaces the injured Daryl Janmaat.

Watford, meanwhile, have hit form in recent weeks, with wins over West Ham United and Manchester United, though they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
    • 0'
Burnley have endured a tough return to the Premier League, beating Liverpool but losing three of their other four games and seeing star striker Andre Gray suspended.
    • 0'
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary from Turf Moor of the first top flight match between Burnley and Watford.
    • 1'
The Watford fans are in good voice early on here, with Mazzarri's name ringing around Turf Moor. Neither side have so far managed to get their foot on the ball.
    • 1'
KICK-OFF: Vokes gets us under way...
    • 2'
A first forward foray for the visitors. Amrabat's pace allows him to reach the ball ahead of Ben Mee, but he's stalled by the Burnley man and his cross is easily collected by Heaton.
    • 4'
Burnley famously beat Liverpool last month while allowing their guests to monopolise the ball. So far, Watford have done likewise here. No sights of goal just yet though.
    • 6'
A hairy challenge from Amrabat on Steven Defour, there, after his first touch got away from him. A free-kick is given - and cleared - but no card for the Watford man. He was perhaps a little fortunate.
    • 7'
We're still in the early stages, but Burnley are growing into this. A lovely Dean Marney pass escaped George Boyd's control, before, in the next attack, Jeff Hendrick's touch was likewise found wanting.
    • 9'
SAVE! Vokes' presence in the area is causing a few issues for Watford. A second cross in quick succession forced a corner, which fell at the feet of Boyd. He thumped goalwards, but Heurelho Gomes got up to tip the effort over.
    • 10'
The subsequent corner did not lead to another clear sight of goal, but the visitors were struggling to get the ball away. A let-off, of sorts.
    • 11'
Watford are struggling to string two passes together at the moment. A slack Jose Holebas lay-off on the edge of his own area left Valon Behrami in trouble, muscling Defour out of the way. They need some relief...
    • 13'
A response is quickly forthcoming from Watford, who make a play down the right, but that soon gives way to more sloppiness as Behrami surrenders possession. Dyche will be the happier of the two managers at this stage.
    • 15'
Vokes has been happy to put his body about so far here, diving towards the ball in the hope of a foul on more than one occasion. No luck, but he's a nuisance.
    • 17'
After sitting so deep for 25 minutes, Watford are stepping onto Burnley now. At least they're finally forcing a couple of errors from the hosts.
    • 17'
There are jeers each and every time Mike Jones fails to give a free-kick Vokes' way, but it's Watford who look in trouble right now. Attempts to play their way out of danger are not helping matters.
    • 18'
A lovely Matt Lowton cross sees Vokes force a corner from Sebastian Prodl, but this delivery causes rather less panic. Burnley remain on the front foot, though.
    • 19'
Etienne Capoue, Watford's man of the moment, has been fairly anonymous thus far. He makes a dash after Holebas' through-ball, but cannot keep the rather hopeful pass in play.
    • 21'
Watford cannot keep the ball. They've yet to venture as far as the Burnley box and this is all one-way traffic at the moment.
    • 22'
Roberto Pereyra hares after Boyd, fouling him and then moaning to the referee. Yellow card, but the free-kick comes to nothing.
    • 24'
CLOSE! It's not quite coming off for Burnley around the edge of the area as another corner is easily cleared. Gudmundsson instead takes matters into his own hands with a low shot that flies just wide of the bottom corner.
    • 26'
Watford respond by winning a corner of their own down the right with Amrabat. Capoue's delivery is deep to Holebas, who thumps a volley towards goal. It's blocked on its way through, though, and Burnley smuggle the ball clear.
    • 28'
Odion Ighalo has been completely anonymous in the opening 28 minutes. He belatedly links up with Deeney, but the Watford captain's pass is poor and any opportunity quickly vanishes.
    • 30'
Further howls of derision as Jones ignores an alleged foul on Hendrick. The home fans are soon distracted by Lowton's progress on the right, but his swirling cross is overhit and floats behind.
    • 32'
So far unable to make any headway in the Burnley half, Watford players are just putting their feet on the ball in their own quarters now, looking to build some possession. There is no momentum in their play, though.
    • 34'
It's very scrappy right now. Watford were steadily building up the pitch until Gudmundsson charged into a pass and took possession. Marney was then wasteful, though, and Watford return to their apparently aimless passing.
    • 36'
Vokes has been quiet for a little while, finally winning headers from a couple of angled Michael Keane passes. The knockdowns fall Watford's way, though. We're closing in on half-time and there's still little to shout about.
    • 37'
Holebas receives a booking shortly after the corner award, but seems nonplussed regarding his crime.
    • 37'
Miguel Britos is unimpressed as Marney wins a corner when the ball might have run out of play from Gudmundsson deflected effort. Defour to take...
    • 38'
      G J. Hendrick Assist S. Defour
    • 38'
Having delivered a few disappointing set-pieces, Defour floats this one right into the melee where Hendrick and his forehead are waiting.
    • 38'
GOAL! Holebas, booked seconds earlier, completely loses Hendrick from the corner, and the former Derby County man nods down and into the far corner. Really poor defending.
    • 40'
Watford are struggling with these high balls now. Lowton floats a free-kick onto Mee's head, and Vokes chases the knockdown. It's inches from his toe, but Gomes claims the ball.
    • 42'
Such has been the poor standard of Watford's passing from the back, Deeney has hardly had a sniff. He finally competes for a lofted ball, winning the flick-on, but failing to pick out Ighalo.
    • 43'
Gomes now shanks a clearance, though Burnley cannot profit. Mazzarri will want to get his players back into the dressing room and find out just what is going on. They've been so poor in this first half.
    • 45'
By contrast, Burnley look at ease as Watford come forward. Amrabat centres at the byline, Heaton shouts and Mee allows his goalkeeper to collect. Simple stuff.
    • 46'
SI C. Zúñiga SO S. Defour
    • 46'
Watford struggled down the right in the first half, and Craig Cathcart has been sacrificed for Juan Zuniga. A change of shape? Quite possibly.
    • 46'
      Watford kick us off again!
    • 48'
Just as he did at the start of the first half, Amrabat is making some early ground on the right. Defour tracked down his first dash, though, while a cross found another claret shirt.
    • 49'
SAVE! Now some luck for Amrabat, poking through to Deeney. The Watford captain hammers at goal, but Heaton is down to save, with the loose ball and subsequent corner both cleared.
    • 50'
      G M. Keane Assist S. Defour
    • 50'
Another header, another assist for Defour! His deliveries have been inconsistent, but ultimately crucial.
    • 50'
GOAL! It's Keane who rises this time to nod home! Again, the marking is poor, with Britos never threatening to beat the former Manchester United defender to the ball.
    • 50'
BLOCK! Superb defending from Prodl. Burnley break at pace and Boyd hammers low towards Vokes' lunge, but the Watford defender is able to deflect clear for a corner.
    • 53'
Watford might still look leaky on the right-hand side, but Amrabat is their chief threat going forward. Again, though, he's squeezed out, this time by Stephen Ward.
    • 54'
This is really awful from Watford. Two hopeless passes leave Defour charging at the visiting back-line. Capoue has to dive in - and may have won the ball - but concedes a foul.
    • 55'
Another horrible pass - Zuniga on this occasion - and Lowton is able to slip in Vokes. He rounds the goalkeeper and shoots wide, but the flag was already up for offside.
    • 56'
Deeney's now been called over by referee Jones, with Watford almost entirely losing their discipline. This has been completely at odds with their recent fine displays.
    • 57'
Now, unsurprisingly, it's Sean Dyche's name being sung as the Burnley fans lift the noise levels. It's been all so easy for the hosts today.
    • 58'
SI I. Success SO S. Defour
    • 58'
Amrabat has perhaps been Watford's brightest spark going forward, but he's replaced by a more offensive option in Isaac Success.
    • 59'
This has been a superb performance from Vokes. Up top on his own, he has battled away for an hour. A superb piece of headed control holds the ball up and draws a foul from Prodl.
    • 61'
SAVE! Deeney concedes another foul, Gudmundsson delivers and twice the ball is only half-cleared. Defour takes possession on the edge of the area and thumps at Gomes. The Brazilian parries the strike, fortunately diving on a bundled rebound as Mee and Vokes collide.
    • 63'
CHANCE! Capoue picks out Deeney, somehow in acres of space in the Burnley area. The ball falls on his forehead but he can only angle a header harmlessly across goal for Heaton to claim.
    • 65'
Success, who has hardly had a kick, challenges Ward high, and goes into the book.
    • 65'
BLOCK! Watford are in this game all of a sudden! Holebas thumps a free-kick into the wall, but Capoue returns the ball with interest. It falls for Deeney, who looks certain to score, but Marney dives to the rescue.
    • 68'
Deeney is very interested in this game all of a sudden, and the Watford fans respond. Their skipper now hunts down Mee in possession to win a corner. Again, though, the delivery is harmless.
    • 69'
Boyd is working ever so hard out there on the left wing for Burnley. He chases Britos, then Gomes, then Zuniga. When Watford take possession again, Vokes follows suit. Phenomenal workrate.
    • 71'
Burnley appear to be chasing a third now, having survived a couple of scares. Gomes claims two crosses, but the second was not too far away from Vokes' head.
    • 73'
Perreyra is a lucky man. Marney harries him and his pass is slack, straight to Boyd. The Burnley winger returns the ball to Hendrick, who is brought down by the booked former Juventus midfielder. A foul is given, but no second yellow when it easily could have followed.
    • 74'
The crowd break into applause as Burnley's hard work forces Watford back again. They have put some amount of effort into this one!
    • 75'
      SI Kenedy SO S. Defour
    • 75'
Mazzarri must have noted that clumsy Perreyra challenge and doesn't take the risk. He's replaced by Kenedy.
    • 76'
Really unfortunate for Burnley. Hendrick blocks a clearance and runs onto Vokes' flick. He's just offside, but would have been in. The hosts are looking stronger and stronger while Watford tire.
    • 79'
Watford cannot get the ball upfield. Every loose touch is pounced upon, and the home fans are loving this.
    • 80'
Left with no space to play in, Watford finally resort to a long ball. As with everything else they've tried today, it doesn't come off. Britos' pass is far, far over Ighalo's head and it's easy pickings for Heaton.
    • 82'
SAVE! Vokes' shot falls kindly into the path of Boyd, through on the right. He has the choice of a shot or a square pass to Hendrick, but gets caught between the two. His eventually lob-of-sorts is clawed away by Gomes. The following corner comes to nothing as the referee spots a foul.
    • 83'
SI S. Arfield SO S. Defour
    • 83'
CLOSE! Success glides past Keane on the left and shoots low from the tightest of angles. It slips just wide of the far post, seemingly clipping Heaton on the way. Behrami batters wide as the corner is cleared.
    • 83'
Defour makes way, after a productive night, with Arfield on in his place.
    • 86'
Watford now, finally, have Burnley camped in their area. Success dazzles again on the left, but the hosts are holding firm.
    • 87'
Watford have repeatedly looked for strikes from the edge of the box at the end of deep corners, but they have not paid off, with Holebas again blocked. Hendrick wins a goal kick from Success.
    • 89'
Burnley have become a little clumsy in recent minutes, perhaps tiring, but Watford still cannot spy a way through. Dyche's men mop up a barrage of lofted balls with ease.
    • 90'
Gomes runs out to clear and does so - but poorly. The ball drops to Arfield, who shimmies inside his man, but by the time he lines up a shot Gomes is back in his goal. Instead attempting to run through, the Burnley man concedes possession.
