Chelsea used their dominance of possession well in the first half, moving the ball around crisply and fast. They created plenty of good opportunities to score more goals, largely through Cesc Fabregas and Pedro, while City's young XI has impressed on the counter-attack too.

With a very winnable Champions League first-leg tie with Dynamo Kiev lurking around the corner, Man City have had to shuffle the pack for today's game as the fixtures mount up. Chelsea are therefore clear favourites but as we've seen over the years, anything can happen in the FA Cup.

Chelsea blasted their way past Championship outfit MK Dons to reach the fifth round and with Man City naming a very inexperienced lineup for today's match, the Blues have a great chance of making the last eight.

Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE text commentary on today's FA Cup clash between Chelsea and Manchester City from Stamford Bridge. Kick-off is at 4:00pm GMT.
    • 1'
Manchester City get us under way here in west London. The man in charge of the cards is Andre Marriner.
    • 3'
The first shot on target falls the way of Man City as Faupala sticks the ball between the legs of Ivanovic and drives a good effort towards the near post, which Courtois parries wide comfortably.
    • 5'
Kolarov sets Iheanacho on his bike as he plays a lofted pass forward towards the City striker, but Ivanovic shows good pace to get to the ball first and snuff out the danger for the hosts.
    • 7'
It's not been a bad start at all from City's young starting eleven, who aren't shutting up shop and are looking to attack when opportunities arise so far. Chelsea are, as expected, having the lion's share of possession at the moment.
    • 9'
A short suspension in play occurs as Cahill leaves the field after picking up a slight knock. Miazga starts to jog up and down the touchline in case Chelsea are forced into an early substitution at the back, which would be a big blow.
    • 11'
Demichelis invites pressure on his team-mates as he messes up a headed clearance. Costa steams forward looking to drive Chelsea into City's penalty area before he gets knocked to the floor by Kolarov. The hosts appeal for the free-kick but the referee waves away their protests.
    • 13'
CHELSEA ALMOST TAKE THE LEAD! The Blues come within a whisker of breaking the deadlock as Pedro plays a delightful one-two with Fabregas around Demichelis and beats Caballero with a left-footed shot, which hits the far post and bounces clear. Unlucky.
    • 15'
Cahill looks as though he may need to come off as he clashes heads with Faupala. Both players contest for the ball and the Chelsea defender comes off worse as he puffs his cheeks out in pain.
    • 17'
Faint appeals for a spot-kick sound around Stamford Bridge once again as Costa takes a tumble inside the penalty area under pressure from Adarabioyo. However, the referee allows play on as Zabaleta clears the ball away for the visitors.
    • 19'
Costa drifts out to the left-hand side to collect possession but his pass towards Baba gets cut out well by Zabaleta. The City full-back has had a decent start to this match alongside a number of debutants for his side.
    • 21'
It's still an open game here as both sides continually find plenty of space to move into. City look a threat every time they knock the ball forward to their front two, in particular Faupala who has put himself about so far.
    • 23'
SAVE! Fabregas combines with former Barcelona team-mate Pedro once again as he receives the ball outside City's penalty area and warms the hands of Caballero with a shot straight down his opponent's throat.
    • 25'
Caballero injects panic into his side as he makes a hash of coming to claim a cross. Baba surges forward down the left flank and curls in a good ball towards Costa, which the City goalkeeper gets to first but parries back into the danger zone.
    • 27'
Chelsea continue to find more joy down the left as Hazard does well to get beyond Zabaleta with good footwork. The Belgium international clips in a cross with too much height, though, and that allows Kolarov to calmly chest the ball into Caballero's grasp.
    • 29'
CHANCE! Pedro makes a run from outside to in superbly again as he skips past Kolarov to get on the end of Baba's lovely cross from the left. However, as the Spaniard takes the ball around Caballero with a heavy touch, he gets thwarted in his tracks by the linesman's offside flag.
    • 31'
City manage to break out of their own half for the first time in a while as Zabaleta marauds into a good chunk of space down the right. The Argentine looks up early and curls in a ball around Ivanovic towards Faupala, but he puts too much on it as Chelsea get back on the front foot.
    • 33'
Pedro falls over inside the penalty area up against Kolarov and the referee, not for the first time, tells a Chelsea player to get up. City break up the pitch on the counter-attack as Iheanacho gets hold of a pass from Faupala and sends a shot just over the crossbar from distance.

    • 35'
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLL!! It's 1-0 to Chelsea! Costa continues his rich vein of form in front of goal since Hiddink's arrival as he heads home when found unmarked inside the box from a Hazard cross.

    • 37'
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLL!! It's 1-1 as City level the tie instantly! The Citizens surge forward on the hunt for a quick equaliser as Iheanacho plays a ball across the face of goal to Faupala, who taps home past Azpilicueta inside the six-yard box.
    • 39'
Two goals in the space of two minutes has seen this game kick into life. Chelsea deserved to take the lead having been the better in this first half but they were instantly caught vulnerable by City's bright strike partnership shortly after.
    • 41'
GREAT CHANCE FOR CHELSEA! It's end-to-end here at the Bridge as Fabregas again sparkles in blue. The Spaniard puts the ball on a plate for Pedro who somehow shoots straight at Caballero from only a couple of yards out.
    • 43'
Willian engineers half a yard for himself brilliantly with clever feet outside City's penalty area. The Brazilian looks up and with little else on, he guides a curling shot just wide of the far post from a tight angle.
    • 45'
Pedro snipers a lovely through ball past Kolarov towards Costa who looks to send in a cross towards a team-mate. The in-form marksman initially looks as though he has worked a good angle for himself but Demichelis gets across and makes a good challenge. Corner to Chelsea.
    • 46'
Welcome back! Chelsea get us under way again for the second half.
    • 48'
      G Willian Assist E. Hazard
    • 48'
It's a second assist of the day for Hazard. The Belgian plays a crisp through pass beyond Demichelis and Garcia towards Willian, who does the rest with a quality finish inside the box.
    • 48'
GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLL!! Chelsea are back in front! Willian collects the ball in his own half and steams forward on the counter-attack for the hosts. The Brazilian plays a quick one-two with Hazard after ghosing in behind Garcia and calmly slots the ball past Caballero. 2-1.
    • 50'
Chelsea look to press home their advantage further as Costa drives into City's penalty area. The Spain international has little support, though, and that allows Adarabioyo to get a block in for the visitors.
    • 51'
Pedro takes a heavy touch as he looks to get around Zabaleta and his momentum sees him fall down inside City's penalty area. The Spaniard opts against appealing for a spot-kick, even though there were a few protests from home supporters.

    • 53'
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLL!! It's 3-1 to Chelsea! Hiddink's men build up a two-goal cushion as Cahill drills home a third. The England international latches onto a loose ball from a wayward Fernando clearance and smashes it beyond Caballero.
    • 55'
Manu Garcia surges forward down the right flank as City look to respond to conceding two early goals in the second half. The youngster plays a pass through to Faupala but Chelsea manage to shut the door in time on the striker.
    • 57'
CHANCE! Hazard plays the same pass which set up Willian's goal to feed in Pedro, who tries to score from a tight angle but his effort gets blocked by Demichelis. Corner to the hosts.
    • 59'
Iheanacho presents Barker with the chance to surge forward down the left with a pass towards the flank, but the latter struggles to sort his feet out in time and that sees the ball trickle out of bounds for a Chelsea throw-in.
    • 61'
Chelsea are right up for this. Pedro loses the ball after playing a one-two with Costa but the Spaniard doesn't give it up as he chases Demichelis and forces City to look shaky in possession.
    • 63'
Fabregas has been heavily instrumental for Chelsea this afternoon but he wastes a good chance to get in on the act himself. He picks up possession from the equally-bright Hazard just outside City's box but he shoots well wide of the target.
    • 65'
Demichelis picks up the first booking of the game for a challenge on Hazard. The City defender knows what he's doing as he brings down the Chelsea man to cancel out an attack.
    • 65'
Hazard drives right at the heart of City's backline in hope of adding to Chelsea's lead, but Demichelis spots the danger and brings down the Belgian before he can pull the trigger. The ex-Lille man stands over the free-kick with interest at the moment.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLL!! It's 4-1 to Chelsea! It's turning into a rout now as Hazard guides a well-taken free-kick into the far corner from just outside City's penalty area. Caballero takes a step to the right which does him no favours.
    • 69'
Iheanacho picks up the ball deep inside Chelsea's half and looks to get a shot away, but the hosts manage to see out the danger. The City striker has been looked sharp whenever he's had possession and can be happy with his display so far.

    • 73'
PENALTY TO CHELSEA! Demichelis barges into the side of Chelsea substitute Traore inside City's penalty area and the referee instantly points straight the spot.
    • 75'
HE'S MISSED IT! Oscar passes up the chance to make it 5-1 as he guides a tame penalty into Caballero's grasp. The Brazilian, who took the ball off Traore, does a little stutter in the run-up.
    • 75'
IT'S SAVED! Caballero dives to his right to deny Oscar from the spot. The City goalkeeper has been wobbly for most of the match but he has gone someway to redeeming himself slightly with that stop.
    • 77'
