Perez stabbed home the only goal of the first half as Distin and Daniels fail to get rid of the danger in the build up to it. But apart from that, the Toon have been very poor and have relied of a fantastic performance from Elliot to keep out Bournemouth so far.

Both sets of players head down the tunnel here at the Vitality Stadium as Newcastle lead by one goal to nil at the interval. Bournemouth were the better team in the first half by a country mile but they look soft every time the ball goes in and around their box.

Newcastle get us under way here at the Vitality Stadium. The man in charge of the cards for today's affair is Lee Mason.

    • 10'

CHANCE! Mbemba fails to get on the end of Anita's fizzing pass back towards him and that allows King to run through on goal, but Elliot rushes off his line and hacks away the ball brilliantly. Great reactions.
    • 13'
NO PENALTY! King gets on the end of Francis' ball down the side and gets half a yard on Coloccini. The Bournemouth striker nutmegs the Toon skipper and falls down inside the box, but the referee waves away his protests for a spot-kick.

    • 19'
Anita gets hold of the ball in a right-back position and that allows Janmaat to get forward and give Newcastle great width. The midfielder tries to play in his Dutch compatriot, but he puts too much weight on his pass forward.
    • 21'
SAVE! King receives the ball on the half turn and drives into the Newcastle box past Coloccini, but Elliot makes a great save from point-blank range at his near post to deny the former Blackburn Rovers forward.
    • 23'

    • 25'
Smith plays in a good ball towards King but Coloccini heads away at the near post. It sits up for Ritchie who tries to power a shot towards Elliot but the Argentine defender makes a good block.

    • 27'
The assist came from G. Wijnaldum.
    • 27'
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLL!! It’s 1-0 to Newcastle! The visitors take the lead completely against the run of play as Wijnaldum picks up the ball from Mitrovic and plays in Perez, who stabs home a shot past Federici from just inside the box.
    • 28'
Distin makes a poor attempted challenge on Wijnaldum outside the box but Daniels fails to cover himself in any glory either, as he loses sight of the ball as Perez fires past Federici from close range.
    • 30'
Ritchie hooks in a decent corner towards Francis in the middle of the penalty area, but as the Bournemouth skipper knocks it down towards Surman, the Bournemouth man struggles to get a shot away.

    • 45'
The fourth official indicates that just one minute is being added on to the first half. It's still all Bournemouth at the moment and while McClaren will be pleased with the scoreline, he'll be massively disappointed with Newcastle's performance so far.

    • 53'
Ritchie picks up the ball from Smith down the right and he sends in a cross which curls all over the place in the wind, but Elliot makes a fantastic catch inside the penalty area. Top-drawer goalkeeping.

    • 71'

    • 73'
Newcastle have changed their shape from playing a 4-4-2 system to a 4-5-1 structure with Perez on the left-hand side now. That's helped them deal with Bournemouth's man advantage in the middle of the park since.
    • 75'
The Magpies have been much better in the last 10 minutes or so since bringing on Cisse. Bournemouth have worked hard right from the get-go and that might be starting to affect them physically.
    • 77'
SI F. Thauvin SO G. Wijnaldum
    • 77'
McClaren makes his second change of the game for Newcastle as he takes off Perez and replaces him with Thauvin. The former’s goal in the first half still remains the only strike of the game so far.
    • 77'
Bournemouth look to have lost their way slightly and it'll be interesting to see whether Howe can make a tactical change for the hosts to get them back on the front foot. Newcastle's five-man midfield has levelled proceedings.
    • 79'
SI T. Rantie SO G. Wijnaldum
    • 79'

CLOSE! Thauvin curls in a cracking free-kick which Cisse flicks on towards the back post, but Coloccini fails to hit the target as he misses the target from close range unmarked. It takes a touch off Federici but the referee awards a goal-kick to the hosts.
    • 85'
Wijnaldum scoops the ball forward towards Sissoko who barges into the side of Distin down the right-hand side, but the Bournemouth defender stands firm and clears the danger for the hosts.
    • 87'
Gosling bursts through the middle of the pitch for Bournemouth but Tiote brings him down for a Cherries free-kick. The Newcastle midfielder has been one of the only players to actually put pressure on the ball for his side this afternoon.
    • 88'
After several fouls today, Tiote finally gets his name taken by the referee as he brings down Gosling inside his own half. The Bournemouth midfielder was making good tracks forward and he needed to be stopped.
    • 89'
The Newcastle supporters are in full voice as their side look to close out a crucial result down the bottom of the table. They've been bad this afternoon but a win is a win and they needed one today.
    • 90'
