WHAT A CHANCE! Miku comes a matter of centimetres away from a potential equaliser as he narrowly misses out on getting his head to a cross from the left courtesy of Martinez. He was inside the six-yard box and if he'd got on the end of it that would have surely been the equaliser!

HALF TIME - Brazil 1-0 Venezuela: Thiago Silva's ninth-minute goal puts La Vinotinto on the brink of elimination, with the score as it stands enough to put the Selecao through top of Group C. We've still got 45 minutes to play, though, so be sure to stick around for the second half!

The teams are out on the pitch and the national anthems are being played inside the Estadio Monumental in Santiago. We're sure to be in for plenty of drama tonight!

So, just to clarify the permutations surrounding this game: A winner sends the other team out of the competition and Colombia through in third, while a draw sees both sides advance at the expense of José Pékerman's side.
    • 0'
It will be interesting to see how Brazil react to the loss of Neymar tonight. They were bullied by Colombia in their last outing and really struggled. Venezuela deployed similar tactics themselves in their opener against Los Cafeteros, so it won't be an easy night for the Selecao.

Of course, Brazil are going to be forced to try and win the competition without their captain and talisman Neymar. The striker was given a four-game suspension following his red card and misconduct in the 1-0 defeat to Colombia, and that has ruled him out of the rest of the tournament in Chile.

At the start of the day all teams in Group C were level on three points, but following Peru and Colombia's 0-0 draw moments ago, defeat will send either of these teams out. La Blanquirroja are the only side in the pool assured of a place in the quarter-finals.

    • 1'
      We are underway in Santiago!
    • 2'
Brazil's defeat to Colombia ended a run of 11 consecutive victories under Dunga. With Neymar out, they'll be keen for a positive display tonight. They've started off by assuming total control of possession, but Venezuela are looking to remain compact and win it quickly in midfield.
    • 4'
A long ball is fired up towards Rondon but the striker cannot get his head on it. Jefferson is alert and keeps his eyes on the ball to gather it confidently inside the box.
    • 6'
Rincon is sent tumbling by Dani Alves as he looks to cut inside after a run down the left. Arango sends the resulting set-piece deep towards the far side of the box where Cichero connects with a header that flies high of the target!
    • 7'
Dani Alves shows off his attacking attributes now, pushing forward and whipping a cross in towards Firmino from the right. The Hoffenheim attacker cannot get on the end of it, though, as Tunez nods it out for a throw in.
    • 8'
Robinho is picked out on the right-hand side of the box by a brilliant pass and he controls it in impressive fashion. He holds up the ball before teeing Coutinho up for a shot which is deflected behind off Seijas. Brazil are beginning to assert themselves now.

    • 9'
      The assist came from Robinho.
    • 9'
GOOOOOAAAL!! WHAT A FINISH FROM THIAGO SILVA! The corner is sent into the box by Robinho and the centre-back runs onto it, smashing a fine volley beyond Baroja and into the net! He celebrates by pointing up to Neymar, who watches on from the stands.
    • 10'
Miranda produces a good tackle to stop Rosales from dribbling into the box near the byline on the right. Venezuela are responding well to going behind here, pushing plenty of men forwards.
    • 12'
STAT: Brazil are unbeaten in six Copa America games against Venezuela, with five wins and a 0-0 draw in the last clash in the group phase of the 2011 edition. That tie was the last time the Selecao had not found the net in a Copa America game in the group stage, before losing 0-1 against Colombia in
    • 14'
Coutinho gets away from Vargas in the centre circle but the Vinotinto man gets all over the back of him and sends him tumbling to the deck. The referee awards a free kick which Brazil take short.
    • 16'
SO CLOSE! Dani Alves spots Robinho in space 20 yards from goal and clips a square pass to him from the right. The former Real Madrid man catches it on the half-volley, guiding it towards the top corner. Baroja leaps across his goal to try and block it but it flies narrowly over the joint of crossbar
    • 18'
Brazil are allowing Venezuela more of the possession now, encouraging them to push men forward before looking to hit them on the counterattack - classic Dunga, really!
    • 19'
Vargas is afforded too much space 25 yards from goal and he opts to release a shot. It's never worrying Jefferson as it sails a good few feet over the top.
    • 21'
Robinho gains some cheers from the crowd for flicking the ball over the head of an opponent before offloading to Coutinho with his second touch. The Liverpool man is unable to advance any further forward and the elation soon washes away.
    • 23'
STAT: Brazil's loss against Colombia ended a 10-game unbeaten run in the Copa America for the Selecao (W6, D4), their best streak in the 21st Century.
    • 24'
SAVED! Willian pings the ball out to Filipe Luis on the left and the defender calls Baroja into action with a stinging drive. It is parried behind for a corner which pinballs around inside the area with Robinho and Thiago Silva both failing to hit the target.
    • 26'
Guerra looks to break forward down the left but Dani Alves gets across to cover and forces him to turn back. He attempts a one-two with Rincon to try and reignite the pace in the attack but his second release goes straight to a Selecao shirt.
    • 27'
Seijas clips a cross in from the left but it's instantly headed away by Seijas. He lets it go out for a throw in which Cichero takes, but La Vinotinto can't create anything from it and end up sending the ball quickly out of play.
    • 29'
The tempo is very slow from Brazil when they get towards the final third in Venezuela's half. Sanvicente's men are defending deep and it's making it difficult for Dunga's side to work decent openings in this first half. Still, they'll be happy to have got that early lead.
    • 30'
Rosales fires a low free kick from a central position towards the top of the box. Tunez makes a good run and helps it on with a clever flick, but he contrives to send it straight into the grasp of Jefferson, who holds it first time.
    • 32'
Robinho picks out Coutinho with a clever through-pass but the Liverpool man is adjudged offside. Vizcarrondo stepped up beforehand and the Brazilian failed to adjust his run accordingly.
    • 34'
Robinho has been rather impressive for Brazil tonight. His career may not have turned out quite as predicted, but he's certainly showing great ability tonight. He's been running the show, providing a source of creativity to his team.
    • 36'
Firmino dribbles in from the left along the byline and manages to earn a corner. It's sent into the middle by Willian but the referee spots a foul inside the box and awards a free kick to La Vinotinto. He'd warned Miranda and Vizcarrondo about being excessively physical just moments before.
    • 38'
WILLIAN! Brazil break down the left, with Robinho leading the charge. He dribbles inside before rolling a pass into the feet of the Chelsea man. He takes a touch and fires a low shot towards the near post which Baroja turns behind. The resultant corner falls for Miranda at the back post and he slams
    • 40'
Venezuela have provided an intermittent threat in this first half, but they're yet to truly test Jefferson. A poor touch from Rosales hands possession back to the opposition for free out on the right, resulting in the break up of his team's latest foray forward.
    • 42'
STAT: Venezuela have never won their last game of the group phase in the Copa America (D5, L10) - however, they have drawn the last three.
    • 44'
ALMOST! Guerra plays the ball into the path of Cichero as he races up from left-back and he angles a cross towards the back post. It causes some panic for Jefferson, who struggles to tell if it's going to drift inside the upright. He lets it go and it proves to be the right decision, with the curl t

Within 20 seconds Brazil get a shot away as Rosales fails to deal with the ball inside his own box. It runs loose to Coutinho who slices a shot wide of the far corner.
    • 46'
We are back underway in Santiago! Two subs from Sanvicente, with Gonzalez and Martinez coming on for Vargas and Seijas.
    • 47'
The two players taken off by Sanvicente were both on yellow cards, so he clearly didn't want to risk going down to 10 men again. Gonzalez whips in a free kick from the left which Vizcarrondo just misses out on turning on target with a header.
    • 49'
SO CLOSE! Willian fires in a corner from the right which Thiago Silva again gets on the end of. He powers a low header towards the near post which Baroja manages to get down to quickly enough to keep it out of the bottom corner! Fantastic keeping.

STAT: Brazil have won the last game of the group stage in nine of the last 10 editions of the Copa America, losing just once.
    • 55'
Venezuela are awarded a free kick in a dangerous area, and Arango might fancy this...
    • 56'
GOOD SAVE! The veteran goes directly for goal from roughly 25 yards out, and his swerving effort dips late and forces Jefferson to tip it behind for a corner. The keeper then claims the resulting set-piece and launches Brazil on a counterattack which culminates in a tame shot on goal from Robinho.
    • 58'
Martinez finds some space inside the box and manages to shift the ball away from Miranda and into a shooting position. The angle only offers him space at the near post, though, and he ends up firing his effort into the awaiting arms of Jefferson.
    • 60'
Venezuela have begun to threaten again in the past few minutes, but the Selecao still look deadly on the counterattack. La Vinotinto have to go for the jugular in the remaining 30 minutes or face elimination from the competition.
    • 62'
STAT: Brazil have kept a clean sheet in five of their six Copa America meetings against Venezuela, conceding just one goal in the other.
    • 64'
Robinho picks up the ball and dribbles beyond three players as he works his way into a more central area. He eventually pulls the trigger from 20 yards but sends a rather disappointing, curling effort outside of the upright.
    • 66'
A long ball up from the back is flicked on by Rondon and Martinez races in behind to challenge Jefferson to it. The keeper collects, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as the flag was up for an offside decision against the Torino man.

    • 67'
Dunga makes his first changes, with Firmino and Coutinho off for David Luiz and Diego Tardelli. Slightly defensive change from the coach then, with the PSG man likely to sit in midfield.
    • 69'
Brazil are in control of possession again, but the tempo of the game has really hit a lull since their second strike. They're in no rush to stretch themselves in these late stages with a two-goal cushion already in the bag.
    • 71'
CHANCE! Venezuela show Brazil that they cannot afford to step off the gas, with Guerra cutting the ball back from the byline on the right to Gonzalez. The substitute takes a touch before hammering a shot towards goal that is blocked by Thiago Silva.

    • 72'
      N. Fedor enters the game and replaces A. Guerra.
    • 72'
Sanvicente makes his final switch, with Miku coming on in place of Guerra. He goes straight into the box as Arango prepares to fire in a free kick. It forces Jefferson into action, but an offside decision is given against Vizcarrondo, somewhat bemusingly.

    • 77'
Miku spots Gonzalez pushing into space on the left and he picks him out with a lofted pass. The midfielder takes a touch before rifling an effort that is always rising over the top.
    • 79'
Dani Alves gets forward as Brazil again look to hit Venezuela on the counterattack. He opts to go for goal rather than pick out a team-mate this time, and his powerful effort is sent straight at Baroja, who holds.
    • 81'
WHAT AN EFFORT! Willian's corner is only half-cleared by Venezuela and Marquinhos helps it back into the middle with a header. It floats towards David Luiz who goes for an acrobatic overhead kick! He makes a sweet connection but it's close enough to Baroja for the keeper to make the save.
    • 83'
Thiago Silva receives a yellow card.
    • 83'
Venezuela are awarded a free kick in a great area as Thiago Silva catches Miku with a follow through on a clearance just outside the box. The referee hands La Vinotinto a free kick and books the Selecao centre-back. If Sanvicente's men want to stay in this tournament, they need a goal here.

GOOOOOOAAAAL!! VENEZUELA ARE BACK IN THIS! Arango curls the free kick over the wall and Jefferson gets across his goal to parry it onto the upright. However, the rebound bounces kindly for Miku who converts with a diving header! Game on in Santiago!
    • 86'
The Vinotinto players look really up for this. They are applying all the pressure and the numerous defensive players in Dunga's side now are looking to try and keep things as tight as possible.
    • 88'
      A. Túñez receives a yellow card.
    • 88'
There's a chance for Brazil to wind down the clock now as Tunez catches Dani Alves late in the centre of the Venezuela half. They will certainly take their time over this set-piece - they aren't getting anyone in the box either.
    • 90'
A poor header from Vizcarrondo hands possession straight to Dani Alves 30 yards from goal. He puts it onto his right foot before lashing a powerful drive adrift of the far post.
