Well thats all for the Premier League this season and from me, i'm Max Nicholson and thanks for following, see you next season!

As for Burnley, Sean Dyche will be in the market for a striker in the summer who can replace the goals that Danny Ings had scored for them this season. Burnley did not spend big on their arrival to the Premier League, 3-million George Boyd being their most expensive purchase. Therefore while the fut

Tim Sherwood will be disappointed with a second defeat in a row to end Villa's Premier League season. However, the fans will forgive Sherwood's wasteful side today after his team delivered the Villa fans a day out at Wembley next weekend. Looking forward, Aston Villa will face a summer of uncertaint

FULL TIME: ASTON VILLA 0 - 1 BURNLEY! Not ideal preparation for an FA cup final for Tim Sherwood but Aston Villa's survival last week will have been mission complete for the Villa manager. Burnley will take heart in their performance and second away win in a row as they prepare for what they hope wi

Plenty to think about for Tim Sherwood at half time. His side have failed to retain possession convincingly against a side that are already relegated. Looking ahead to the cup final, if Villa replicate this first half performance at Wembley Sherwood will surely feel Arsenal will punish them more tha

Sean Dyche will be the most satisfied of the two managers at half time. His team have worked hard after taking the lead, and the 43 year old will be optimistic about his sides chances of promotion next season if they continue to work as hard as they did in the first half.
    • 0'
HALFTIME: Burnley lead 1-0 here at Villa Park. Danny Ings gave the away side the lead after 7 minutes, heading in from the penalty spot. Aston Villa have grown into the game following the early setback, and will feel they are well worth and equaliser.
    • 0'
We are just ten minutes away from kick off and the atmosphere is building in Villa Park, as the Villans look to warm up for Wembley in style!
    • 0'
Meanwhile, for Sean Dyche and Burnley, this game represents a final farewell for both the club and individuals. Burnley will be playing their football in the Championship next year, and they will do so without top scorer Danny Ings. The 23 year old is out of contract in the summer and the England un

Sherwood rings the changes today with 22 year old goalkeeper, Jed Steer, being handed his first appearance of the season for Villa, while academy starlets Callum Robinson and Andre Green are on the bench.

Aston Villa go into this game with one eye on their FA cup final date with Arsenal on the 30th May. Tim Sherwood stated in his press conference that despite the pending Wembley showpiece his side want to give the Villa fans a winning send off after what has been a poor season for Villa in the Premie

Lets crack straight on with the team news, first up our hosts Aston Villa…

This tie would have been earmarked by both Tim Sherwood and Sean Dyche as a potential relegation decider six weeks ago. However, the future of both sides has already been sealed as Burnley were relegated to the Championship in round 36, while Aston Villa secured another season in the Premier league

Good afternoon and welcome along to Villa Park for the final game of this Premier League season between Aston Villa and Burnley. I’m Max Nicholson and I will be describing all the action for you today.
    • 1'
And we’re underway! The home side are in their claret and blue home strip while Burnley swap their likewise colour home kit for an all black away strip.
    • 3'
Early free-kick from long range for Burnley gives young Aston Villa keeper, Jed Steer his first touch of the ball, however seconds later he rushes out to clear a ball widely into the stands.
    • 5'
No team has really got a hold of the ball as of yet, testing each other with long balls forward as Burnley search for their first win in the top flight at Villa Park since 1967.
    • 6'
      G D. Ings Assist A. Barnes
    • 6'
Ashley Barnes got the assist, slipping in behind Leandro Bacuna to head the ball across the face of goal.
    • 6'
GOALLLLLLLL!!! The long ball tactic has worked for Burnley as Danny Ings gives them the lead with a header from the penalty spot as Aston Villa fail to clear their lines.
    • 10'
Tim Sherwood's changes at the back have caused uncertainty in defence for Villa. Barnes and Ings are pressing what appears to be a back for for the home side at every time they get the ball.
    • 12'
Aston Villa try to threaten working the ball out to the right but Bacuna's cross is blocked by Ben Mee.
    • 14'
Both teams are throwing the ball into the box from deep at every opportunity, sensing a weakness in the others backline, so far Burnley defended every Villa attempt stubbornly.
    • 16'
Free-kick to Villa as Ings trips Grealish, whose neat footwork is too quick for the Burnley hitman.
    • 17'
CLOSEEE!! From the resulting free-kick Ron Vlaar blazing Gabriel Agbonlahor's knock down just over the bar. Still 1-0 Burnley.
    • 19'
Cheeky foot work from Scott Arfield in the corner works a chance for Burnley but Steer collects Ings's weak header from the resulting cross.
    • 21'
A tale of long balls so far! Both teams are still trying to use their height in attack to carve out chances but without quality as possession is being thrown back and forth between the defences of both sides.
    • 23'
Very little in the form of clear cut chances. Sean Dyche will be pleased at how hard working his side have been despite relegation already being confirmed for the away side.
    • 25'
CHANCE!! Neat footwork from George Boyd down the right hand side as the former Hull winger carves our a cross to Ings at the back post, only for the goalscorer to blazes the ball high into the Holte End.
    • 27'
Injury scare for Villa. Fabian Delph recieves treatment after being caught while tussling for possession in the middle of the park. The former Leeds midfielder returns to play however, which will be a welcome sight for Villa fans ahead of Saturday's FA cup final.
    • 29'
      F. Ulvestad receives a yellow card.
    • 29'
Injury again as Barnes goes down after Delph, who has only just come back on the pitch clashes with the big centre forward in the air and falls on the Burnley striker.
    • 31'
Barnes is still recieving treatment on the pitch, he stands up and hobbles off so Mike Jones can get the game under way again.
    • 34'
SI S. Vokes SO A. Barnes
    • 34'
Barnes' season is over as Burnley substitute the injury hit forward and bring on Sam Vokes, who is yet to score this season.
    • 35'
The game has failed to get going again with any flow as Mee gives away a free-kick in the centre circle.
    • 36'
CLOSE!! Christian Benteke just fires wide after chesting down a searching ball forward, before firing wide of Tom Heaton's far post.
    • 38'
Benteke goes close again with a header from a deep Delph cross, the referee spots a deflection and Villa win their first corner.
    • 40'
Sherwood's men ending the first half stronger. However Bacuna wastes a good crossing opportunity as he fluffs his lines, giving Heaton, an easy save.
    • 42'
Plenty to think about for both managers at half time as there remains very little to separate the sides.
    • 43'
CHANCE! Westwood thunders the ball over the bar from 20 yards following Charles N'Zogbia's cut back.
    • 45'
SAVE!!!!! Heaton saves well following another Westwood strike from inside the box. The Burnley keeper, who recently received a call up to the England international squad palmed away a shot that looked destined for the top corner.
    • 46'
And the action resumes at Villa Park as Aston Villa get us under way again, attacking the Holte End.
    • 48'
Aston Villa break away in the first minutes of the second half, Agbonlahor sprints forward and plays in Benteke in the right channel. The big Belgian forward comes inside before taking a touch outside again which gives Mee the chance to block his effort from a tight angle.
    • 50'
Villa sweep forward again through Cleverley and Delph. Delph's cross is blocked but his second attempt finds Benteke at the back post, who can only fire wide.
    • 52'
Villa have come out with their tails up. Sherwood's half time team talk has really got through to the home side as they are now attacking with more pace. Still no end result however.
    • 53'
Yellow card for Ron Vlaar as the big Dutch centre back slams into the back of Ings in the centre circle, Sherwood will be disappointed with that, as it has broken up his sides momentum.
    • 56'
Villa come again down the left, as make shift left back Charles N'Zogbia darts down the wing and crosses to Benteke, but Villa's top scorer in the Premier League fails to control the ball and the chance is gone.
    • 58'
The last time these two sides met in the Premier League at Villa Park, Villa ran out 5-2 winners back in 2010. It appears unlikely that we will witness a similar scoreline today as both these sides' seasons have been characterized by a lack of goals. On today's evidence it is easy to see why.
    • 60'
Ings is really working hard for Burnley up top, pressing the booked Vlaar whenever he picks up the ball.
    • 62'
After a fast start to the second half for Villa, Burnley appear to have re-grouped and look like a much more solid defensive unit as the clock ticks past the two-thirds mark of the final game of the season for both these sides.
    • 64'
SAVEEE!! The curse of the commentator! Aston Villa carve open Burnley as Benteke jinks past two defends before the laying the ball off to Agbonlahor with only the keeper to beat. His effort though, is fired straight at Heaton and is saved.
    • 65'
SI M. Taylor SO A. Barnes
    • 65'
Fredrik Ulvestad makes way for Matt Taylor as Burnley make their first substitution of the afternoon.
    • 65'
CHANCE!!! Burnley's turn now as Geoge boyd fails to convert a Ings through ball from close range, Steer getting down well.
    • 66'
      S. Arfield gets yellow.
    • 68'
Corner to Villa after a driving charge from Delph. Heaton comes out and takes the resulting corner well.
    • 70'
The home side are dominating proceedings now. Cleverley and Westwood turning over possession quickly as Villa move the ball side to side in the hope of creating a chance to draw level.
    • 72'
SI S. Sinclair SO A. Barnes
    • 72'
Scott Sinclair comes on for Villa, replacing Tom Cleverley. Sinclair is making his first appearance for Villa since signing for them permanently from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.
    • 74'
N'Zogbia goes close with a long drive from the left hand side. Heaton saves well after the ball swerves through a crowd of players.
    • 76'
Burnley win a corner in a rare forward move this half. Sean Dyche will be happy that his forwards have taken the heat off the Burnley defence who have had little rest since the start of the second half.
    • 78'
Wasteful from Jack Grealish as the 19-year-old wriggles past the Burnley defenders into the box, only to pass the ball wide for Bacuna who had not anticipated the lay off. Still 1-0 Burnley!
    • 80'
SI A. Hutton SO A. Barnes
    • 80'
Bacuna goes off and is replaced by Alan Hutton, who started at left back in last week's 6-1 defeat at Southampton.
    • 80'
Backs to the wall stuff from Burnley now. Nine men behind the ball restrict Delph to a long range attempt, which blazes over.
    • 82'
Burnley venture forward down the right through Kieran Trippier and Boyd, but the pair cannot work a cross and Villa regain possession.
    • 84'
POOR!! N'Zogbia fires into the side netting from a tight angle when it might have been better to cross the ball, Villa have had 15 attempts today, I doubt very many of them were on target.
    • 86'
The game is becoming stretched now, which will not suit Tim Sherwood, who ideally would have liked to have pulled off his star players at some point in the game, ahead of the FA cup final.
    • 87'
SI S. Reid SO A. Barnes
    • 87'
Danny Ings waves goodbye to the Burnley fans as he is replaced by another player leaving Burnley. Steven Reid comes on for his 343rd and final club appearance before the former Irish international retires.
    • 89'
Free-kick to Burnley following a Villa corner. The resulting pinball in the box led to Vlaar fouling his marker.
    • 90'
CHANCE! Delp goes wide with a 35-yard thunderbolt. His effort just goes wide of Heaton's far post and that may well be the last chance of the game.
    • 45'
2 minutes of added time at Villa Park. Cleverley sends in an inviting cross, hoping to try and fashion one last chance of the half, but Heaton commands his box well and comfortably takes the ball.
    • 90'
Heaton is quick off his line to save an inviting cross at the near post, all Villa now.
    • 90'
Three minutes of added time at Villa Park and not alot of time for Villa to score.
