    • 45'
Cresswell sees an ambitious effort from 40 yards go over and the referee swiftly blows for half time.
    • 90'
GREAT SAVE, HEATON! Things would have been much worse for Burnley were it not for him! He does brilliantly to deny Nene's fierce effort with his fingertips.
    • 0'
And that's it for this afternoon. Thank you for following the LIVE action of the Barclays Premier League from Upton Park. I've been Jonathan Davies and until next time, have a very good evening.
    • 0'
Burnley are on the brink of relegation following another defeat here. They had Michael Duff harshly sent off for bringing down Cheikhou Kouyate, with Mark Noble scoring the subsequent penalty on 24 minutes. A first win in five for the Hammers sends them up to ninth.

FULL TIME - WEST HAM UNITED 1 BURNLEY 0
    • 0'
The teams are back out there and Burnley have made a change at the start of this second half, with Michael Keane coming on in place of Boyd.
    • 0'
Burnley are as good as down as things stand. They are currently eight points adrift with only three games to play after today. Aston Villa are now 2-0 up against Everton, and Sunderland are still holding Southampton at 1-1.
    • 0'
Mark Noble's penalty midway through the first half is the difference between the two sides going in at the break. Burnley had Michael Duff harshly sent off in the awarding of the spot kick, and they have a mountain to climb in the second half.

HALF TIME - WEST HAM UNITED 1 BURNLEY 0
    • 0'
The teams are out and kick off is just moments away!
    • 0'
This season's FA Cup final referee Jonathan Moss is our man in the middle today. His appointment will not have been welcomed too warmly by either side - West Ham have failed to win their last seven he's taken charge of, while Burnley have lost their last three he's officiated.
    • 0'
Each game is a cup final now for Burnley, they desperately need points on the board if they're to avoid the drop. Leicester's earlier win means that Sean Dyche's men are now six points from safety with four games remaining.

TEAM NEWS - both sides have made just a single change from last weekend. Morgan Amalfitano comes in for West Ham with Matt Jarvis dropping to the bench, while youngster Reece Burke keeps his place in defence following an impressive debut at Queens Park Rangers last Saturday. Ashley Barnes returns fr

Good afternoon and welcome to LIVE text commentary of the Barclays Premier League. It's the battle of the Claret and Blues today, as West Ham United take on Burnley at Upton Park. I'm Jonathan Davies and I'll be guiding you through the action.
    • 1'
      AND WE'RE OFF!
    • 3'
VALENCIA SHOULD HAVE SCORED! Cresswell delivers a beautiful ball across the six-yard area, but the striker cannot make the vital contact and Burnley are relieved.
    • 5'
The history books don't really favour Burnley coming into this game. They have only won two of the last 16 meetings between the sides, albeit one of those came during the last clash at Upton Park back in the 2011/12 Championship season.
    • 7'
Valencia is struggling for West Ham here. He is hobbling around after appearing to have twisted his ankle. The Ecuadorian is saying he can continue but for how long?
    • 9'
THAT WAS A WASTE FROM DOWNING! He got into a good position to deliver a decent cross, but got it all wrong and sent the ball behind for a goal kick.
    • 12'
PINBALL IN THE BOX! Heaton gratefully clutches onto the ball following a West Ham corner that bobbled around everywhere - that really could have finished up anywhere!
    • 14'
THAT JUST NEEDED A TOUCH! Ings flashes the ball across the face of goal, but none of his team mates are on hand to provide the finishing touch.
    • 15'
WHISKERS AWAY FROM BARNES! Taylor whipped in a brilliant cross with an unmarked Barnes waiting to head home, but the ball was just too high for him and goes behind for a goal kick.
    • 17'
This is just what Burnley were looking for. They are in control at the moment but could do with getting themselves in front during this period of superiority.
    • 19'
INGS NEEDS TO DO BETTER! It's another delicious ball in from Taylor from the left hand side, and Ings has a free header but cannot hit the target - big chance!
    • 21'
The visitors are really going for it here. Trippier is next to deliver another telling ball into the box, but he cannot find a team mate and West Ham survive again for now.
    • 23'
PENALTY TO WEST HAM AND A RED CARD FOR MICHAEL DUFF!! That just sums up Burnley's season - what a blow that is! The experienced centre half brings down Kouyate and the referee points to the spot, however he is very unfortunate to be given his marching orders.
    • 24'
NO PROBLEM FOR NOBLE! The Hammers take the lead as he steps up and sends Heaton the wrong way. For all of Burnley's pressure, that is the sucker punch they really didn't need.
    • 26'
GREAT SAVE, HEATON! It's amazingly just how quickly the tables turn! Downing's cross finds Valencia in the six-yard box, but the Burnley keeper somehow gets a strong hand to prevent the hosts from doubling the lead.
    • 28'
Another good save from Heaton! The Burnley keeper does well to deny Amalfitano at the near post. The visitors need to weather this up until half time you feel.
    • 30'
Scores elsewhere in the Premier League so far aren't really helping Burnley's cause either. Aston Villa are currently a goal to the good against Everton, while Sunderland are holding Southampton at 1-1.
    • 32'
Neither side will have necessarily fancied their chances coming into the match this afternoon. Burnley are currently on a five-game winless streak, while West Ham have gone four matches without tasting victory.
    • 34'
GOOD SAVE, ADRIAN! Barnes meets a Burnley corner with a diving header, but the West Ham keeper does well to stop the goalbound effort. Burnley need to start producing more of that again.
    • 35'
Good defensive play frm Jenkinson! Barnes looked to get Ings in behind the West Ham back four, but the right-back covers well to cushion the ball out of play.
    • 37'
West Ham are slowing things down to their own pace, as they knock the ball around the back with a lot of comfort. Burnley need to start threatening again.
    • 39'
NOLAN SHOULD DO BETTER! Amalfitano whips a decent ball into the box which finds the head of the West Ham skipper, but he fails to test Heaton.
    • 40'
That was a vital touch by Trippier! Downing clipped a nice ball into the box which Nolan was waiting to finish, but the Burnley right-back got his head to it first and took it away from the Hammers midfielder.
    • 41'
      E. Valencia receives a yellow card.
    • 42'
OUCH! Ings and Noble have a clash of knees as they both challenge for the loose ball. The Burnley man comes off worse, but is back on his feet after the visitors are bizarrely awarded a free kick - it was a fair contest.
    • 44'
      M. Noble is yellow-carded.
    • 44'
WHAT A WASTE FROM TRIPPIER! Burnley have a free kick in a decent position - 30 yards from goal - but he sends it flying way over the bar.
    • 45'
We're going to have two minutes of stoppage time.
    • 46'
SI M. Keane SO G. Boyd
    • 46'
      M. Keane enters play, replacing G. Boyd.
    • 46'
      WE'RE BACK UNDERWAY!
    • 47'
JUST WIDE FROM NOLAN! The West Ham skipper arrives to meet Jenkinson's low cross into the area, but cannot direct his flicked effort towards goal.
    • 49'
Burnley are looking to do what they have only managed once this season - win away from Turf Moor. Their only victory on the road came at Stoke City back in November.
    • 50'
Valencia cannot find the target! He cuts inside and shoots in the area, but his shot doesn't trouble Heaton. That was a let off for Burnley.
    • 52'
SIDE NETTING FROM INGS! He controls a long ball, cuts inside Cresswell and darts into the area but cannot quite steer his effort inside the near post.
    • 54'
SHOULD BURNLEY HAVE A FREE KICK AND SHOULD JENKINSON HAVE BEEN SENT OFF?! Ings gets in behind the West Ham defence and is bundled over on the edge of the area by the right-back, but Mr Moss isn't interested and waves play on.
    • 55'
VITAL TOUCH, HEATON! At the other end, Jenkinson fires a dangerous ball across the area and the Burnley keeper's interception prevents a certain tap-in for Valencia.
    • 57'
NOT TOO FAR AWAY, AMALFITANO! Valencia cushions the ball down for Nolan who lays it off for the Frenchman, whose curling effort is just wide of the post with Heaton beaten.
    • 58'
END TO END STUFF HERE! After being whiskers away from going 2-0 up, West Ham are almost pegged back to 1-1 as Adrian makes a decent save with his leg to deny a drilled Taylor effort.
    • 59'
GOOD SAVE, HEATON! The ball falls kindly for Nolan in the box but he shoots straight at the keeper, before Valencia's attempted rebound is blocked.
    • 60'
      S. Downing goes into the referee's book.
    • 60'
NO PENALTY AND A YELLOW CARD FOR DOWNING! The England winger goes down in the box looking for a penalty, but the referee sees straight through it and books him for diving.
    • 63'
We have a break in play here as Kouyate goes down following a very rash challenge from Keane, who is quite lucky to escape without a yellow card.
    • 65'
Elsewhere, Villa are now 3-1 up on Everton while Sunderland are 2-1 to the good against Southampton. Liverpool are a goal up against QPR, while Swansea and Stoke are yet to find a breakthrough.
    • 67'
West Ham are just shading things over the past few minutes. It's strange to think that just a couple of months ago, they were in the hunt for the European spots. How quickly a bad run of form can turn your season!
    • 68'
Burke's name went up in lights then as the ball fell to him in the box, but Burnley were able to block. He's enjoyed another decent run-out in the top flight this afternoon.
    • 70'
KOUYATE CAN'T FIND THE TARGET! A corner is whipped into the West Ham box and met by the Senegalese, who cannot keep it under the crossbar.
    • 72'
Jenkinson gets into another decent position and, once again, delivers a threatening cross but none of his team mates are gambling on it.
    • 74'
Things look bleak for Burnley. They have failed to score in seven of their last eight matches and it's looking almost certain to become eight in nine.
    • 76'
West Ham are controlling the pace of the play to suit themselves here. Burnley are looking weary as the Hammers knock the ball around comfortably.
    • 78'
West Ham are making their first change of the afternoon and Nolan is the man to make way for them, with Nene coming on for his sixth appearance since signing as a free agent in Feburary.
    • 79'
      SI Nenê SO G. Boyd
    • 79'
SI M. Sordell SO G. Boyd
    • 79'
      M. Sordell enters play, replacing A. Barnes.
    • 79'
      K. Nolan is done for the day. Nenê is his replacement.
    • 79'
Burnley are also going to make a substitution with Marvin Sordell coming on in place of Barnes. He will offer some pace to their forward line at the very least.
    • 81'
SI R. Wallace SO G. Boyd
    • 81'
      R. Wallace comes on for M. Taylor.
    • 81'
It's the last throw of the dice from Dyche as he makes his third and final substitution, with Ross Wallace coming on in place of former Hammer, Taylor.
    • 82'
SI C. Cole SO G. Boyd
    • 82'
      E. Valencia is replaced with C. Cole.
    • 83'
Almost an immediate impact from Cole! Seconds after replacing Valencia, he gets on the end of Downing's cross but can only head over the bar.
    • 84'
      R. Wallace is yellow-carded.
    • 85'
We are now into the last five minutes of the game and Burnley's Premier League status is slipping fast. At eight points adrift with three matches to play, they are as good as certain to go down.
    • 87'
It's another chance for Cole inside the box, but he shoots straight at Heaton. He could have doubled his tally for the entire season since coming on.
    • 88'
HOW DID COLLINS MISS?! The ball drops to the centre half inside the six-yard area, but he somehow blazes it over the bar. West Ham should be home and dry.
    • 90'
OFF THE LINE, SHACKELL! Kouyate tries his luck from the edge of the box with an effort that beats Heaton, but the Burnley skipper is in the right place to head clear.
