And that's it! Full time here at Goodison Park. Everton 1-0 Burnley.
    • EXTRA TIME
    • 90'
Burnley still believe they can get something from this contest and are chucking the ball forwards whenever they can but the passes are more in hope rather than expectation at the moment.
    • 45'
RED CARD FOR BURNLEY! What a terrible way to end the half for Sean Dyche's men. Ashley Barnes who was already on a yellow card makes a very silly tackle on Coleman and is given his marching orders. That could be a pivotal moment in the match as the referee promptly blows for half-time.
    • 90'
SHOT! Barkley hits the target but is once again denied by Heaton. The Everton midfielder had Lukaku in support but opted not to use him. Safe to say that the striker looked far from impressed with that decision.

That's all I've got time for this afternoon. Thanks very much for joining me and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Until next time I've been Chris Baker and thanks for stopping by!

Burnley must now turn their attention to next weekend's relegation showdown with Leicester City which is shaping up to be a pivotal match. With the Foxes winning three on the bounce it will be another testing afternoon for Sean Dyche's men. As for Everton their good form continues and if they contin

Burnley's fight to stay in the Premier League is going to be incredibly difficult if they keep failing to find the back of the net. For all their honesty and endeavour they created precious little in front of goal. David Jones missed a golden chance just after Kevin Mirallas' goal and that proved ve

Even the most ardent Burnley supporter will struggle to say that Everton weren't worthy of their win but the Toffees certainly made hard work of it this afternoon. Roberto Martinez's side had countless opportunities to make the game safe but failed to do so. One-nil is always a nervy and dangerous s

With relegation rivals West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City leading at half-time Burnley have no other option but to go all-out for an equaliser and then a winner. Will the red card for Barnes mean a substitution for the Clarets or just a tactical reshuffle? Danny Ings may play out wide and leave
    • 0'
As for Burnley, where do they go from here? Despite being second best for the majority of the opening 45 minutes they are still very much in the game. They will rue the chance missed by David Jones that could have given them an instant equaliser but be very grateful to goalkeeper Tom Heaton who save

Roberto Martinez will have mixed emotions at the half-time interval. He will no doubt be very pleased from what he has seen from his side going forward and some of the combination play in attack has been exceptional. However, he will be extremely frustrated that they are only a goal to the good and

On the other hand Burnley will feel a little hard done by that they didn't get at least a point from their game against in-form Arsenal. Goalscoring has been a problem for the Lancashire team. The Clarets have failed to find the net since George Boyd's winner against Manchester City. It is an issue

Roberto Martinez's side are in reasonable form and will be looking to finish the season strongly despite not having a great deal to play for. They have won three of their last five matches and played well in spells last time out away against Swansea. Evertonians will be expecting three points today

Leon Osman misses out with a groin injury but the good news for the Toffees is that Romelu Lukaku returns to the squad after four weeks out with a hamstring problem but has to settle for a place amongst the substitutes. As for the Clarets it is yet another unchanged team for Sean Dyche. Burnley midf

Welcome along to a glorious afternoon here at Goodison Park for this Premier League clash between Everton and Burnley. I'm Chris Baker and I'll be describing the action for you today.
    • 1'
First tackle of the day and it is a bad one from Ross Barkley on Ashley Barnes. The Everton midfielder is lucky not to be cautioned for that late challenge. Probably only escaped a booking as it was inside the first 30 seconds of the match.
    • 1'
We are underway here at Goodison Park which is beautifully bathed in sunlight. The playing surface looks magnificent and should suit both teams that always look to get the ball down and play their football. Burnley kick us off! Both teams are in their traditional colours.
    • 2'
SHOT! Barkley has been in the thick of the action so far this afternoon. On this occasion he picks up the ball just inside the Burnley half and drives towards goal. The England international gets a shot away but badly drags it wide.
    • 4'
OVER! Kieran Trippier is given far too much time and space out wide on the right wing. The full-back cuts inside onto his left before flighting the ball into the area. His cross is meet by Sam Vokes but the big Welsh centre forward can only direct his looping header over the crossbar.
    • 6'
Jagielka is down in a heap after being caught with a stray arm from Vokes. The Everton skipper has blood coming out of his mouth so will need to leave the field for some treatment. No suggestion of intent from the Burnley striker. Gareth Barry will temporarily drop into defence alongside John Stones
    • 9'
PENALTY TO EVERTON! Aaron Lennon raced towards the penalty area and was brought down by David Jones. The initial contact seems to been made outside the box.
    • 11'
      Penalty saved by T. Heaton!
    • 11'
    • 11'
The Burnley fans are absolutely jubilant. Sean Dyche and his player's will feel that some sort of justice has been done as they were adamant that it should have been a free-kick instead of a penalty. Either way it is still 0-0.
    • 11'
SAVED BY TOM HEATON! Not the best spot kick from Barkley but an excellent save from the Burnley keeper. Very surprised not to see usual penalty taker Leighton Baines or Kevin Mirallas assuming the responsibilities.
    • 13'
Unlike the previous incident involving a tug-of-war between Mirallas and Baines it seemed that Ross Barkley was the designated as the pre-match penalty taker. Romelu Lukaku has scored his last couple of penalties and must be frustrated that he wasn't on the field to take it.
    • 16'
SAVE! A deep cross came in from Seamus Coleman on the right that Heaton failed to deal with and the ball fell invitingly to Leighton Baines who fired in a rasping half-volley which was well saved in the end. Good pressure from the home side.
    • 18'
WIDE! Lennon is just inches away from giving Everton the lead. The winger, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, drifted into a central position and ran at the heart of the Burnley defence. He worked the ball onto his favoured right foot but his low shot is pulled wide of the post.
    • 20'
Sean Dyche will be very concerned with how this match has started but relieved that they are not behind. The Everton midfield players are being allowed far too much room to operate in. Burnley's 4-4-2 formation is leaving the back four exposed with Jones and Arfield currently being overrun in the ce
    • 22'
SHOT! Danny Ings with a snap shot on the half-volley almost catches Tim Howard unawares from all of thirty yards but the Burnley striker's effort on goal doesn't have enough power to seriously trouble the Everton goalkeeper. Better from the visitors.
    • 23'
      A. Barnes gets yellow.
    • 24'
Ashley Barnes is the first man to go into the referee's notebook this afternoon and not before time. Burnley's players have certainly been fully committed but they have overstepped the mark on one or two occasions and the officials have decided that enough is enough. It was a late and potentially da
    • 26'
Everton have started this match at an excellent tempo. The speed and incisiveness of their passing has caused their opponents all sorts of difficulties. Burnley just need to hang in there at the moment and weather the storm.

    • 29'
      Assist by A. Koné.
    • 29'
Lennon is once again involved and plays in Coleman. The Irish right back pulls the ball back to Kone who miscontrols it and it falls kindly to Mirallas who stabs home at the second attempt. The goal has been coming and is no less than Everton deserve.
    • 29'
GOAL! 1-0 Kevin Mirallas breaks the deadlock!
    • 30'
CHANCE! And what a chance for Burnley to hit back immediately. David Jones was left with just Tim Howard to beat but put his shot over the bar. That was a massive opportunity for the away side to draw level. In their current situation they really can't afford to miss chances like that.
    • 34'
Everton continue to pile on the pressure and Kone is proving to be a handful for the Burnley central defenders of Duff and Shackell. This match could be close to being over as contest if the home side had taken their chances. As ever though the Clarets have looked to attack at every opportunity even
    • 36'
Danny Ings has gone seven games without a goal and could desperately do with finding the net this afternoon. The Burnley no.10 has failed to find the net since scoring at Old Trafford in a 3-1 defeat. Ings has been linked with a move to Liverpool and will be keen to impress on Merseyside.
    • 38'
Danny Ings does really well to first hold the ball up with his back to goal before playing in Barnes. But just when the Burnley forward thought he was in on goal his shot was very well blocked by Gareth Barry, who had tracked his run all the way.
    • 41'
Another nervy moment this season from veteran goalkeeper Tim Howard who has his clearance charged down by Ings. The Everton stopper took far too long and was nearly punished for his sloppiness. The Toffees are creating their own problems at times and are giving the visitors encouragement.
    • 43'
Slight delay here as Ings requires some attention from the Burnley physio after catching the ball full in the face from close range by Barry's half-volleyed pass. The striker seems a little groggy but will be fine to carry on.
    • 46'
Everton get us underway for the second half. No alterations so far for either team.
    • 48'
The Toffees have begun the second half in the same vein as they started the first. Baines as usual fires in a low cross to the near post and Kone gets across his man to turn the ball goalwards. The former Wigan striker then sees his effort hit the bottom of the post. The rebound falls to Ross Barkle
    • 50'
Corner to Burnley. Set-pieces will be crucial for the away side in the second half as their numerical disadvantage shouldn't be as much of an issue. Trippier whips in a devilish delivery that bounces up off of Jagielka and into the grateful arms of Howard. Let off their for Everton.
    • 51'
      K. Mirallas is cautioned by the referee.
    • 52'
Yellow card for Mirallas and the Belgian winger is perhaps lucky not to see red as he rakes his studs down the shin of Boyd with the ball nowhere to be seen. Arfield then goes into the book for hacking down Barkley in the centre of midfield. This game is in danger of getting out of hand.
    • 53'
      S. Arfield goes into the referee's book.
    • 54'
OVER! Kone fires his shot high wide and not very handsomely after excellent approach work from Baines. The Everton striker had options to his right and should really be doing better in that position.
    • 56'
WHAT A MISS! James McCarthy sidefoots the ball wide of the post after Lennon and Baines had combined to great effect down the left wing. He simply has to score there, an absolute sitter. Everton may live to regret their wastefulness in front of goal.
    • 58'
OVER! Danny Ings leads a Burnley counter attack after Everton make a mess of a short corner. The England Under 21 international cuts inside from the left wing onto his right foot but can only sky his shot miles over the crossbar.
    • 59'
SI L. Jutkiewicz SO A. Koné
    • 59'
      S. Vokes is replaced with L. Jutkiewicz.
    • 60'
Lukas Jutkiewicz, formerly of Everton, is the first substitute of the day coming on in place of Sam Vokes. The sub is immediately involved in the action and forces a corner for his side. Trippier takes the set-piece but his cross is easily headed away by Stones.
    • 61'
SI R. Lukaku SO A. Koné
    • 61'
      K. Mirallas is replaced with R. Lukaku.
    • 61'
      J. Shackell goes into the referee's book.
    • 63'
Lukaku is now on but not in place of Kone as you might have expected but alongside him. Fellow Belgian and goalscorer Kevin Mirallas is the man to be replaced.
    • 65'
SAVE! Burnley just can't clear their lines at the moment. This time it is Leighton Baines who stings the palms of Tom Heaton after being teed up by Aaron Lennon. A second goal for Everton looks much more likely than an equaliser at the moment.
    • 68'
As we head into the final quarter of the match it remains one-nil to Everton. The Toffees have almost totally dominated the second half but have found that killer second goal elusive so far. Burnley will be happy that they are still in the match.
    • 70'
CHANCE! Good hold up play by Lukaku brings Kone into play who shimmies across the top of the penalty area before laying the ball off to Lennon who gets his shot off first time but it is deflected by Ben Mee and easy for Heaton to gather.
    • 72'
It is now over six hours of Premier League football since Burnley last scored a goal and they need to change that statistic in the next twenty minutes or so if they are to get anything out of this match and aid their survival bid.
    • 74'
Almost a great opportunity for Lukaku as he is picked out brilliantly by a flighted through ball by Gareth Barry. Unfortunately for the Toffees the former Chelsea centre forward is let down by his first touch and allows Heaton to race off his line and claim the loose ball.
    • 76'
Baines' free-kick finds Barry completely unmarked at the back post. The holding midfielder elects to strike the ball first time but he surely had time to have a touch before firing goalwards. Another decent chance goes begging for Everton.
    • 78'
Burnley just beginning to string a few passes together as they look to build up some momentum as we head towards the final ten minutes of the match. Shackell and Duff are knocking some hopeful looking long diagonal balls which are being easily dealt with by Jagielka and co.
    • 80'
SI S. Naismith SO A. Koné
    • 80'
      A. Koné is done for the day. S. Naismith is his replacement.
    • 80'
Arouna Kone has not had a particularly effective game and it is no surprise to see the industrious Steven Naismith come on in his place. You imagine that the Scottish forward will play in behind Lukaku.
    • 82'
WIDE! McCarthy strikes the ball very cleanly after being set up by Ross Barkley's knock down. Heaton could only stand and watch as the shot flew just past the post.
    • 84'
SI R. Wallace SO A. Koné
    • 84'
SI M. Taylor SO A. Koné
    • 84'
      M. Taylor comes on for D. Jones.
    • 84'
      R. Wallace enters the game and replaces G. Boyd.
    • 84'
Sean Dyche gambles by bringing on two players who are just returning from long-term injuries with Matthew Taylor and Ross Wallace coming on for George Boyd and David Jones. Burnley have used all of their substitutions now.
    • 86'
CHANCE! And it is a big one as Ings heads over from about eight yards after a decent cross into the danger area from Trippier. Burnley have rarely threatened since going down to ten men but that was a huge opportunity for them to draw level.
    • 88'
SI M. Bešić SO A. Koné
    • 88'
      J. McCarthy is done for the day. M. Bešić is his replacement.
    • 88'
The visitors are now in the last chance saloon and are chucking the kitchen sink into the Everton penalty area. Enough cliches there? Burnley are giving it a real go. Meanwhile Martinez has been forced into a substitution as McCarthy has picked up a knock and has to go off. Besic has come on to see
    • 90'
Naismith, as busy as ever, does very well to win his side a corner that Baines will take. The corner is overhit and Burnley eventually smuggle the ball clear after Barry didn't take the opportunity to shoot.
