    • 90'
The away fans have been singing all afternoon and it looks like the home side's dream of Champions League football has all but dissolved.
    • 90'
SAVE! Brilliant pass from Kane puts Soldado through, who is thwarted by Guzan who tips the Spaniard's shot wide but the referee brings play back for offside.
    • 0'
It all got a bit messy at the end with yellow cards being served out like mains at a restaurant. Sanchez received a second booking for a foul on Rose but Tim Sherwood's men won't care. They will be counting the injuries they have picked up along the way but the former Spurs man's clehnched fists of

HALF TIME - TOTTENHAM 0-1 ASTON VILLA. Groans of frustration sound around White Hart Lane was the visitors go in at the break a goal up. There have been chances for both sides but Tim Sherwood's men deserve their lead through a great Benteke header. Mauricio Pochettino's men need to shore up at the

Both sets of players head down the tunnel as we await the kick-off here in sun soaked North London. Today's match referee, Lee Probert, also retires to the changing rooms as White Hart Lane begins to fill up. Do the Lilywhites still stand a chance of reaching the top four? Will the Villa beat their

PRE MATCH STAT ATTACK: Tottenham are unbeaten in 12 league meetings against Aston Villa (W9, D3). They have won the last five, equalling their longest winning run in this fixture.
    • 0'
Meanwhile the Villans are unchanged from the side who drew 3-3 with fellow strugglers QPR in the week with Tim Sherwood sticking with the same eleven...and more importantly a striker in Christian Benteke who is back in form after a hat-trick in that game against the R's.
    • 0'
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino makes two changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Burnley last time out, with Federico Fazio and Andros Townsend coming in for the injured Kyle Walker and the dropped Paulinho. Harry Kane captains the side for the second time whilst Michel Vorm deputises for Hugo Lloris

Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of today's tasty Premier League encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. My name is  Hayden Gribble and I shall be taking you through all the action at a sunny White Hart Lane today as Time Sherwood returns to his former club looking for three c
    • 1'
The whistle blows and Villa get us underway, kicking from left to right.
    • 3'
It's the away team who are on the front foot from the off as a ball in to the box looking for Benteke brings Vorm off his line and the Dutchman makes a nervous punch out to the edge of his box before Mason clears.
    • 5'
Spurs bomb forward as Eriksen dispossesses Grealish and drives into the box, but is forced to cut the ball back to Rose, whose square pass to Chadli lacks accuracy and Villa clear.
    • 7'
Bentaleb looks up in the centre of the pitch and sees Eriksen sliding in between Vlaar and Clark but he is crowded out by the pair and the loose ball rolls back for Guzan to deal with.
    • 9'
There is definitely a feeling of pace and intensity of the White Hart Lane pitch. The game is building up nicely and soon, the flood gates could open as both defences are leaving space at the back. Who will draw blood first? Kane or Benteke?
    • 11'
STAT ATTACK: Spurs are unbeaten in 10 home matches in the Premier League since a November defeat by Stoke (W7, D3).
    • 13'
Despite all the attacking intensity in this game there have been no clear cut chances of yet. A misplaced pass from Rose brings groans from the home support.
    • 15'
A Spurs corner breaks down no the edge of the Villa box and the visitors are away as Sanchez sends a great diagonal ball through to Agbonglahor but Vorm is off his line to head the ball out for a throw-in.
    • 16'
Oh dear, It looks like Clark is going to have to come off. The defender is on his back side in his own box and looks like he might have twisted his knee in Spurs' corner a minute earlier.
    • 18'
SI N. Baker SO C. Clark
    • 18'
      N. Baker comes on for C. Clark.
    • 18'
The hosts are looking dangerous in attack as Rose gets to the byline and cuts it back to Eriksen, but the Dane is unable to beat the first man with his cross and the attack breaks down.
    • 19'
CHANCE! Finally! Benteke bears down on goal and draws the Tottenham defender in and lays it off to an unmarked Bacuna, who slices his effort way of target from just inside the box.
    • 21'
OVER! Spurs get up the other end and a cross from the right from Townsend is headed cleared by Vlaar to Eriksen, who lashes the ball over from 20 yards.
    • 23'
STAT ATTACK: Villa are still nine points adrift of their lowest final tally in a Premier League campaign: 38 points in 2011-12 and 2013-14.
    • 25'
NOT ANOTHER INJURY! Bacuna dives in to a fifty-fifty challenge with Rose and looks like he has caught his studs in the turf. Tim Sherwood looks concerned as do the Villa fans but it looks like the defender will be okay to carry on.
    • 26'
OVER THE BAR! Tottenham win a corner on the left. Eriksen whips it in to Fazio, whose leap is impressive but his free header is less so as it sails over Guzan's goal.
    • 28'
SAVE! Like a freight train, the hosts steam through the visitor's defence. Rose gets forward from the left and hits a low shot against the legs of Guzan who steers it away.
    • 30'
With half an hour gone, it looks like Spurs are finally testing the Villa back four. Again, it's Rose down hte left who creates the danger but his bobbled pass finds Townsend, who shoots from the right but Guzan gathers.
    • 32'
Cleverley sees Agbonglahor making a break down the left flank and plays a great pass through to his team mate, who is adjudged offside by the assistant referee. It looked close to my eyes but the Lilywhites looked very vulnerable there.
    • 34'
STAT ATTACK: Villa's last victory over Tottenham was by 2-1 at White Hart Lane in September 2008.
    • 35'
      G C. Benteke Assist C. Clark
    • 35'
      L. Bacuna gave the assist.
    • 35'
GOAL! It's that man again! Benteke gets ahead of Fazio and glances his header past a static Vorm to put the Villans in front!
    • 37'
CHANCE! The hosts are striving for an equaliser now as Eriksen puts a superb ball in to Fazio, who pulls out of a possible collision with Guzan and lets the ball sail out for a goal kick.
    • 38'
CHANCE! Kane comes deep and plays a looping ball in to Eriksen who has the Villa defence bearing down on him and thrashes his shot well over. The Danish International should have done better there.
    • 40'
WIDE! For a full-back, Rose has been by far the most dangerous player for the home side this afternoon. The defender races forward again and gets in the box, but his shot is rushed and he puts it wide on his right foot.
    • 42'
STAT ATTACK: Christian Benteke now has eight goals in his last six games.
    • 44'
OVER! Chadli shows some fancy footwork and comes inside two or three players before laying it off to Eriksen, who again blazes the ball over. Not a good day for the Dane so far!
    • 45'
And we are back as Spurs get us underway, kicking from left to right.
    • 45'
There will be TWO minutes of stoppage time.
    • 48'
The hosts are looking to get right back in this and Kane is on to a long ball from Dier, but Vlaar reads it well and deals with the danger.
    • 50'
OVER! The Villans have a corner on the right. Agbonlahor cushions the ball down to Vlaar, who blasts his effort way over Vorm's goal.
    • 52'
Spurs are asking the questions right now as Chiriches sends a lovely ball in to the back post but there are not enough shirts in box. Moments later, Townsend finds some space and sends exactly the same ball in again but again there is no one in a white shirt to test Guzan.
    • 54'
STAT ATTACK: Aston Villa have lost nine of their last 12 league games, and only won two out of 17.
    • 56'
WIDE! Kane gets free and wins a corner off Baker. The ball is whipped in from the left and Chadli is up highest to meet it, but he fails to get his header on target.
    • 58'
      C. Sánchez goes into the referee's book.
    • 58'
Mason draws a foul from Sanchez and Lee Probert produces his first yellow card of the afternoon. What can Spurs make of this free-kick wide on the right?
    • 59'
JUST TOO HIGH! Kane has really awoken in this half as he gets in a tight position but with some good footwork, cuts in on his left foot and glides the ball just on to the roof of Guzan's net.
    • 62'
      SI Soldado SO C. Clark
    • 62'
Soldado enters the game and replaces N. Chadli.
    • 62'
A bit of brilliance from Chadli as he allows the ball to run a long and takes two players out of the game but his delivery is very poor and Kane has his head in his hands as the Belgian ends up putting the ball out for a goal kick. Soldado looks ready to come on and the home side are still probing f

SI A. Weimann SO C. Clark
    • 63'
      A. Weimann comes on for J. Grealish.
    • 64'
Soldado and Delph have a exchange of words as the Spaniard nips at the heels of the England International. Meanwhile, Agbonlahor is pushed to the floor by Bentaleb as the hosts are growing more and more frustrated.
    • 66'
      N. Bentaleb gets yellow.
    • 66'
STAT ATTACK: The Villans have suffered seven defeats in eight away games, with the exception being the 4-0 win over Sunderland.
    • 68'
The visitors look content to keep the score at 1-0 at the moment but the home fans are roaring their team forward at ever turn. But at the moment, Tim Sherwood will be happy to get on over his former employers.
    • 70'
SI J. Cole SO C. Clark
    • 70'
      J. Cole enters the game and replaces G. Agbonlahor.
    • 70'
OVER! Fazio has been a threat at set-pieces but the defender is yet again off target as his header from a corner on the right is well off target and Villa win a goal kick.
    • 72'
The visitors are committing niggly fouls here and it is disrupting Tottenham's flow as they continue to look for a equaliser. Soldado tries to dig out Mason but Baker is alert to the danger.
    • 74'
Spurs are winning a succession of corners as the Villa defence remain resolute. This could be a long quarter of an hour for the team in front!
    • 76'
WIDE! Soldado and Mason combine in the box and the ball falls to Kane, but the England International fires well wide of goal.
    • 78'
STAT ATTACK: Mauricio Pochettino's side have scored 26 Premier League goals in 2015, more than any other team except Arsenal.

      V. Chiricheş is replaced with D. Yedlin.
    • 79'
With time running out, Lamela and debutant Yedlin are introduced to the fold...what can they do with ten minutes to go? Villa are backs agianst the wall right now!
    • 81'
      C. Benteke goes into the referee's book.
    • 81'
For all their pressure, the home side have struggled all afternoon to create clear cut chances. Sherwood is cutting a nervous figure on the sidelines...will his side claim all three points?
    • 84'
JUST WIDE! The Villans win a rare corner, which Cole delivers ot the back post for Vlaar, who jumps just too early and heads wide under pressure from Fazio.
    • 85'
GREAT SAVE! Delph is through...he is one-on-one with Vorm with the goal at his mercy...but the midfielder is thwarted by the keeper who tips it over for a corner.
    • 87'
Bentaleb sums up Spurs' day by giving it away in the middle of the park and now its their opponents who are on top. They have been very complacent this afternoon.
    • 89'
Yedlin ventures forward and squares the ball to Soldado, who lays it off to Lamela but Vlaar slides in and deflects the ball on to the Argentine for a goal kick.
    • 90'
There will be a minimum of FIVE (yes, FIVE!) minutes of added on time.
