The corner by Trippier is poor and fails to beat Lallana at the near post. Liverpool try to counter but Coutinho runs the ball out of play. Burnley are still hassling Liverpool in midfield and Joe Allen concedes a late free-kick 25-yards out for a high boot on Arfield.

It does not get any easier for Burnley in their fight to avoid the drop as the face Manchester City at Turf Moor next weekend before a run of fixtures that reads Southampton away, Tottenham and Arsenal at home, then Everton away. But one thing is for sure, Dyche's men will not give up.
    • 0'
Burnley remain three points away from safety following this defeat. The Clarets are 19th in the table but could still move out of the drop zone with a win in their next game. It is now six games without a win in the league for Sean Dyche's side.

Liverpool move up to fifth, above Southampton, with this win. They sit two points behind Manchester United who occupy the final Champions League spot. Up next for the Anfield side is a home game with Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup Quarter Final this weekend before a trip to take on Brendan Rodgers f

It could have been more had it not been for Heaton in the Burnley net. Sturridge was denied twice in the first half by the keeper but will be happy with the way he took his goal in the second half to make it three in five league games since his return from injury.

Lee Mason calls time on the game at Anfield and it is another three points for Liverpool in a convincing display. They never looked in trouble against a Burnley side that huffed and puffed with no real end product. Jordan Henderson put in another fantastic performance with a goal and an assist to he

      FULL TIME: Liverpool 2-0 Burnley
    • 0'
Burnley have been unable to really test Simon Mignolet so far this evening. The 'keeper was forced to make a save from Ashley Barnes' header just before the break but the visitors have struggled to break through a well organised Liverpool defence and have registered just the single effort on target.
    • 0'
The home side have enjoyed 66 per cent of possession in this first half and will be kicking themselves for not going in at the break with a bigger lead. Burnley keeper Tom Heaton made two good saves to deny Daniel Sturridge. Philippe Coutinho and Joe Allen have also come close with efforts from rang

Liverpool have been well on top in the first 45 minutes and are fully deserving of their lead. Jordan Henderson's strike, his second in two home games, separates the sides but it could easily be more for here at Anfield.

Liverpool have picked up 13 points from their last five games and are unbeaten in the league since their 3-0 loss at Old Trafford in December. CHANCE!!! Liverpool almost make the perfect start. Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling link up well down the right flank before Sturridge plays a one-two with Adam Lallana. The England striker manages to get his shot away but Tom Heaton gets down well to his left to turn it around the post for a co

Lee Mason blows his whistle as Liverpool get the game started in their all red strip kicking from left-to-right.
    • 3'
Burnley look intent on attacking here this evening which will play right into the hands of the home side. Danny Ings tries to play a low ball across the Liverpool penalty area but Skrtel is able to clear. At the other end Jason Shackell turns a Coutinho cross out for a corner.
    • 5'
From the resulting corner Jordan Henderson gets up highest but cannot keep his header down. Burnley go up the other end and Kieran Trippier forces a corner off Dejan Lovren, but the dead ball is easily dealt with by the home side.
    • 7'
Burnley attack again down the right as Trippier links up with George Boyd however the former Hull City man is out muscled by Lovren. It has been a very open, fast paced start to this game as both teams look to play attacking football.
    • 9'
Emre Can tries to find Sturridge with a long ball but Shackell is on hand to intercept. Liverpool are seeing the majority of the ball without really penetrating but are awarded a free-kick as Boyd brings down Coutinho.
    • 11'
The free-kick is floated into the area by Coutinho and Heaton comes out to punch. His connection is poor and it falls to the feet of Liverpool captain Henderson who is unable to control his effort as it flies out for a goal kick.
    • 13'
Alberto Moreno wins Liverpool another corner as his cross is deflected behind off Trippier but the set piece comes to nothing. The away side are struggling to keep possession but win a free-kick in their own half as Joe Allen brings down Danny Ings.
    • 15'
Danny Ings and Ashley Barnes are seeing very little of the ball upfront for Burnley. The defensive trio of Liverpool have coped will so far with any potential danger. There have still been no real attempts on either goal as the home side continue to enjoy the lions share of possession.
    • 17'
There is a lack of communication between Skrtel and Mignolet that results in a Burnley corner. The defender was waiting for his keeper to collect the ball but Mignolet stuttered. The Slovakian defender was forced to clear but he only found Michael Kightly however Raheem Sterling was on hand to force
    • 19'
The corner comes to nothing as Martin Skrtel gets in the way of Michael Keane's goal bound header. Apart from Sturridge's early effort neither side has tested the opposition keeper but the opening twenty minutes has shown some good fast pace football from both sides.
    • 21'
Burnley are defending from the front as they close Liverpool down all over the pitch. Lallana picks up the ball in space inside the Burnley half but this ball is too heavy for Sturridge and runs out for a goal kick to the visitors.
    • 23'
Liverpool have lacked the killer final pass so far in this game. A bad kick out by Heaton puts pressure on his side and Liverpool work the ball well until it finds Henderson on the edge of the box. His side foot effort looked to be finding its way in but Heaton saved well to his left.
    • 25'
Daniel Sturridge almost capitalises on a mistake from Jason Shackell as the defender misjudged his header back to Heaton. However the striker could not make a true connection and turn the ball past the keeper as Shackell breathes a huge sigh of relief.
    • 27'
Moreno and Sterling each have the chance to deliver a cross for Liverpool but both were unable to pick out a player in red. Henderson picks out Sturridge with a Gerrard-esque ball over the top but the striker is unable to bring it down.

    • 31'
Coutinho almost produced a moment of magic for the third league game running. He tries a right footed curling effort from all of 25-yards that has Heaton scrambling across his line, but it fails to find the target.
    • 33'
Liverpool are really beginning to knock the ball around well now. Coutinho passes to Lallana, who looks to flash one across the box but his cross is straight at Heaton who hold onto it well and tries to slow the game down for the visitors.
    • 35'
Liverpool have been the dominant team so far in the opening 35 minutes here. Burnley are trying to hit their opponents on the counter at every opportunity but the back three of the home side has dealt well with any potential danger.
    • 37'
Burnley are knocking the ball around in front of Liverpool and Kieran Trippier tries to add some emphasis to the attack by playing a cross field ball to Michael Kightly however the wide man is unable to control the ball and the attack fizzles out.
    • 39'
The visitors are trying to find a way back into this game and enjoy a few minutes of possession. However it comes to an end when Ashley Barnes is adjudged to have fouled Henderson midway into the Liverpool half.
    • 41'
There is almost a lucky break for Daniel Sturridge as Jason Shackell makes a hash of his attempted clearance from a Coutinho cross. Ben Mee is able to get his body between Sturridge and the ball and draw a foul in his own penalty area.
    • 43'
GOOD SAVE BY HEATON! Lallana wins the ball back for Liverpool on the half-way line and Coutinho plays a first time ball into the path of Sturridge who is one on one with the keeper. Heaton makes himself big and makes the save with his right leg to stop it being 2-0 here.
    • 45'
The teams are back out for the second half and Burnley kick-off. They will certainly need a better performance in the next 45 minutes if they are to take anything away from Merseyside.
    • 45'
Burnley try a set piece routine straight off the training ground. Trippier plays his free-kick to the back post and Barnes tries to head it back across goal to Ings but Mignolet is able to grab hold of the ball.
    • 45'
Another long range effort for the hosts. Joe Allen this time. He takes aim from 30-yards but his strike is high and wide of Heaton's goal.
    • 47'

    • 49'
Emre Can goes on a busting run through the centre beating three Burnley players before laying it off to Coutinho. The Brazilian tries to find the bottom left corner but Heaton is able to save.
    • 50'
There is a clash of heads between Mignolet and Barnes in which the Burnley man comes off worse. It all started with a long ball from Trippier and Mignolet comes out of his area to challenge Barnes in the air. The keeper wins the aerial battle and Barnes is left in a heap on the ground clutching his

GOAL!!!!! 2-0 LIVERPOOL! Daniel Sturridge doubles the home sides lead.
    • 54'
It looks like game over at Anfield with that second goal. Liverpool have been superb so far tonight and look very unlikely to squander a two goal lead but stranger things have happened in football.
    • 56'
Burnley almost work an opening. David Jones feed the ball through to George Boyd who looks to find Danny Ings with a low cross but Martin Sktrel applies enough pressure in defence and Simon Mignolet is able to collect the ball.
    • 58'
Danny Ings claims for a penalty as he looks to get his shot away. The striker went down under pressure from Henderson but the referee was not interested. Play goes on and George Boyd has a half chance but he slips at the vital second.
    • 60'
Burnley are enjoying some possession at the minute and have another attempt on goal. Barnes lets fly with a half volley from the edge of the box but he drags the effort wide of the left post.
    • 62'
Another chance for Liverpool. Some good work from Sterling down the right as he beats Mee for pace and gets his cross away. Sturridge does not commit to the header as he is challenged by Keane and the ball falls to Moreno at the back post but the Spaniard can't keep his effort down.
    • 64'
Sturridge tries an effort from range this time. Emre Can wins the ball of Jones inside the Burnley half and passes to Sturridge. The England International tries to bend a left footed effort into the top corner from 30-yards but it is always rising.

    • 66'
Burnley make another change as Ashley Barnes is replaced Sam Vokes. The Welsh international is yet to find the net in the Premier League having formed such a formidable partnership with Ings last season as the Clarets earned promotion.
    • 68'
Michael Keane is on hand to block an Adam Lallana effort on its way towards goal. The former Southampton player turned past Jason Shackell as faked to shoot and curled a right footed effort towards the top corner but Keane was able to get his body in the way.
    • 70'
Liverpool have a free-kick on the edge of Burnley's box following a foul on Raheem Sterling. Henderson takes it but Heaton comes out confidently to collect the cross.
    • 72'
Burnley held a high line of defence and Sturridge looked to take full advantage by racing onto a through ball by Lallana, however the pass had a bit too much on it and ran away from the front man.

SI K. Touré SO J. Henderson
    • 73'
      K. Touré enters play, replacing Alberto Moreno.

    • 76'
The introduction of Toure for Moreno has seen Can take up a position in the midfield and Toure drop into the back three. Sterling picks up the ball for Liverpool down the left side and drives into the box before firing an effort straight at Heaton.
    • 78'
Liverpool are enjoying a prolonged spell of possession here. Shackell tries to break up the play but only succeeds in fouling Can down the right flank. Liverpool take the free-kick short.

    • 86'

    • 88'
Burnley are seeing a lot of the ball late on as this game draws towards an end. The visitors are playing all of their football infront of the home side as Liverpool look content to defend in the final minutes. Mee tries a long ball towards Vokes but Mignolet comes out to claim it.
