    • KICK OFF
    • 45'
CHANCE! Leicester almost get a lifeline just before the half-time interval. Cambiasso's deep corner is dropped by Ospina, who feels that he was fouled. Morgan tries to force the ball goalwards but Mertesacker is in the right place at the right time and hacks the ball to safety.

That's all from me this evening. I've been Chris Baker and thanks very much for joining me. Until next time...

This victory takes the Gunners back into their usual position in the top four of the Premier League while Leicester remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Wenger will be very pleased to see Walcott score again after his injury but will have concerns about the fitness of Aaron Ramsey. Nigel Pearso

Not for the first time this season Nigel Pearson will be left to reflect on what was an excellent display against all the odds but ultimately it is another defeat for Leicester City. The Foxes should take great heart from their performance but they must sharpen up at both ends of the pitch if they a

After the painful Derby Day defeat it was all about the result and not necessarily the performance for Arsene Wenger this evening. It was by no means a vintage Arsenal display but hugely important given the circumstances. Koscielny settled the Gunners down with a well taken goal from Ozil's corner a

Leicester have some decent options on the bench and you suspect that it won't be too long before the likes of Marc Albrighton, Leo Ulloa or David Nugent are introduced.
    • 0'
Arsene Wenger will certainly know that his team can play a lot better than they have done so far but will be delighted to have a two-goal cushion at half-time. Leicester need to push forward to try and get back into the match and Arsenal will be confident that they can take full advantage of any gap
    • 0'
Arsenal have produced some moments of quality when it counted and have been ruthlessly clinical in front of goal. Nigel Pearson will be fairly satisified with many aspects of his sides first half performance but they have given away two sloppy goals from their point of view.

Welcome to the Emirates Stadium for this Premier League clash between Arsenal and Leicester City. I'm Chris Baker and I'll be describing the action for you this evening.
    • 1'
And we're underway! Both teams in their traditional strips. Arsenal in their famous red and white kit while Leicester are in their usual royal blue shirts with white shorts and blue socks.
    • 2'
CHANCE! Nearly a very early goal for the visitors Mahrez picked up Schlupp's pass and turned Monreal inside out before shooting with his right foot. His goalbound effort was deflected behind for the first corner of the game. Promising for Leicester.
    • 4'
The corner came to nothing but Leicester are enjoying a lot of early possession. The Foxes haven't won in their last 17 Premier League games in London and have had a troubled build up to this game with the rumours surrounding Nigel Pearson. The Emirates Stadium is slowly filling up as the latecomers
    • 6'
Bellerin and then Rosicky try to carry the ball forward and get Arsenal going as an attacking force but to no avail. The home side are however starting to settle into their usual passing rhythm.
    • 8'
Danny Simpson bursts forwards after playing a one-two with Mahrez. Simpson hurdles a challenge from Cazorla before putting in a high and looping cross towards the back post Kramaric and Konchesky combine to keep the ball in play but the move fizzles out.
    • 10'
It's been a bit of a low-key start for the home side and the atmosphere has beeen understandably muted after the result at the weekend. Arsene Wenger could do with some of his senior players getting on the ball and asserting themselves on this match.
    • 12'
CLOSE! Mahrez goes even closer than he did earlier on. The Algerian winger flashes a shot through the legs of Ospina but wide of the post from the inside left position. Mahrez broke the offside trap and got in behind Bellerin and was not far away from opening the scoring.
    • 14'
SAVE! Theo Walcott latches on to Mesut Ozil's perfectly weighted pass but can only hit his shot into the body of the onrushing Schwarzer. That was much better from the Gunners.
    • 16'
Despite that presentable opportunity for Walcott, Nigel Pearson will be very pleased with the way his side have reacted to their defeat at the weekend to Crystal Palace and the uncertainty that has surrounded the club since then. The Foxes have looke confident and well organised so far.
    • 18'
Alexis Sanchez lines up a freekick well within his range, about 30 yards from goal. The Chilean goes to whip it over the wall but only suceeds in hitting the head of Wes Morgan.
    • 20'
Arsenal are now stringing a few passes together and are beginning to push Leicester City deeper into their own half. Cazorla and Coquelin are becoming more prominent, dominating in the central areas.
    • 22'
Walcott is looking the most likely candidate at the moment to break through the wall of blue shirts. His pace and movement is troubling Konchesky and Ozil is trying to play him in at every opportunity.
    • 25'
Cambiasso chases down a seemingly lost cause and manages to win a corner from Bellerin. Leicester load the box with likes of Huth and Morgan but the delivery doesn't give them a chance and Arsenal are able to clear their lines easily.
    • 27'
      G L. Koscielny Assist M. Özil
    • 27'
      M. Özil gave the assist.
    • 27'
GOAL! Koscielny puts Arsenal in front!
    • 27'
Nigel Pearson will not be pleased with his sides defending for the goal as Koscielny side footed home from about six yards out under not a lot of pressure. It was a delicious cross from Ozil but far too easy for Arsenal.
    • 29'
After a fairly solid side the Premier League strugglers will be bitterly disappointed to have allowed Arsenal to score such a simple goal. The Gunners are pretty dangerous from set pieces and Koscielny did well to evade his marker.
    • 31'
That goal has noticeably lifted the crowd and more importantly the Arsenal player's who are playing with a lot more fluency now. Alexis Sanchez is seeing the ball and is running at the heart of the Leicester defence at every opportunity. If City are to get anything from this match it is vital that t
    • 33'
Sanchez was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Robert Huth a few minutes ago and still seems to be feeling the effects of that tackle. Wenger and the Gunners faithful will be desperate not to lose their star man so soon after his return from injury. He appears ok to continue at the  mome
    • 36'
Leicester have regained their composure and nearly equalise. Kramaric plays a great pass out wide to Konchesky who is in plenty of space. The Leicester full-back puts in a teasing low cross which is well dealt with in the end by Koscielny.
    • 39'
CLOSE! It's Mahrez once again who is troubling the Arsenal defence as he jinks onto his weaker right foot inside the penalty area. Mahrez tries to curl it into Ospina's top corner but on this occasion his shot bends wide.
    • 41'
      G T. Walcott Assist M. Özil
    • 41'
GOAL! Walcott puts Arsenal 2-0 up.
    • 41'
Ozil's piledriver from the edge of the area is well saved by Schwarzer but unfortunately for the Foxes the rebound drops perfectly to Theo Walcott who absolutely buries his shot into the bottom corner. Game over?
    • 43'
Arsenal smell blood now and Sanchez picks the ball up in the inside left position and looks to work half a yard for a shot but he is well snuffed out by Wes Morgan. Leicester really need the half-time whistle so they can get in and regroup.
    • 45'
Cazorla tries to drive into the Leicester penalty area but he is rather unceremoniously upended by Konchesky right on the edge of the box. Ozil tries to lift his freekick up and over the wall but his effort is deflected wide.
    • 46'
The players are back on the pitch and the second half is up and running.
    • 47'
Arsenal are straight on the attack and Sanchez forces a corner. Cazorla's set piece is headed only as far as Tomas Rosicky who hits a first time shot on the volley but his effort is well wide of the target.
    • 49'
Leicester are in a slightly difficult situation early in this second half. They could dearly do with a goal to get back into contention but if they leave themselves too exposed and concede a third then the floodgates could open.
    • 50'
Ozil twists and turns on the left-hand touchline and is then tripped by Simpson. Cazorla takes the free kick and looks to whip it into the near post put it is far too close to Schwarzer who comfortably gathers.
    • 52'
SAVE! Cambiasso and Kramaric play a neat one-two on the top of the Arsenal penalty area. The Croatian striker opens himself up to bend the ball at goal but he can only fire his strike straight at Ospina.
    • 54'
Simpson flies forward on the overlap and puts in a dangerous cross into the area which is met by his fellow full-back Konchesky who tries to volley the ball across goal but his cross-cum-shot is blocked and Leicester have a corner.
    • 56'
Schlupp and Mahrez continue to look lively and Leicester will need to get those two more involved if they want to threaten the Arsenal backline. Simpson then almost sets Matty James clear but the through ball is just out of reach. So close to an opening for the away team.
    • 58'
Former Gunner Matthew Upson is being forced off through injury. The ex-England centre-back was handed a rare start against his former club and will be bitterly disappointed to suffer another fitness setback. On in his place is the usual starter Marcin Wasilewski.
    • 59'
SI M. Wasilewski SO M. Özil
    • 59'
      M. Upson is replaced with M. Wasilewski.
    • 60'
CHANCE! Kramaric not once, but twice goes close. He first wriggles free and hits a low shot across goal that is well saved by Ospina. Kramaric gets to the rebound and chips the ball to the back post but Mertesacker is on hand to head over his own cross bar.
    • 61'
      G A. Kramarić Assist M. Özil
    • 61'
GOAL! Kramaric fires home to get Leicester right back into this contest.
    • 62'
That was less than convincng defending from Arsenal. Koscielny's header from the corner was weak and the ball fell invitingly to Kramaric, who steadied himself before smashing his low drive into the bottom corner. Leicester will feel that they've deserved something on the balance of the play so far.
    • 64'
The Gunners need to weather this storm and get hold of the ball again further up the pitch. The Foxes came out fighting at the start of the second half and have been rewarded for their positive endeavour. Giroud looks set to come on to give Arsenal a focal point.
    • 65'
      M. Wasilewski is yellow-carded.
    • 66'
SAVE! Cazorla has looked dangerous all evening and the Spanish maestro goes close to restoring Arsenal's two goal advantage with a fierce left-footed shot across goal. Schwarzer is at full stretch and palms the ball away to safety. It was at a nice height for the goalkeeper.
    • 67'
      T. Rosický is cautioned by the referee.
    • 68'
SI O. Giroud SO M. Özil
    • 68'
      A. Sánchez is done for the day. O. Giroud is his replacement.
    • 69'
Alexis Sanchez was the man to be replaced and Giroud gives Arsenal the option to go more direct in these last twenty minutes or so. The match has just gone through a quiet spell. Leicester are going to need a big effort to draw themselves level.
    • 71'
CLOSE! Mahrez is inches, and I mean inches, away from making it 2-2. The Leicester winger whipped a shot at goal with his favoured left foot and it curled just wide of the target. Ospina was totally helpless and could only watch as the strike whistled past the post.
    • 73'
SI A. Ramsey SO M. Özil
    • 73'
      A. Ramsey enters play, replacing T. Walcott.
    • 74'
Ramsey is now on in place of Theo Walcott as Wenger looks to sure things up in midfield. Leicester are showing great fighting spirit and are continuing to attack Arsenal every chance they get. They will need to be careful that they don't over commit and get caught out on the break.
    • 77'
SAVE! Ospina makes a very simple catch but he really shouldn't have been given the opportunity. Kramaric broke the Arsenal offside trap and found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper and the Leicester striker went for an audacious Poborsky-esque chip but didn't get it right and wastes a golden chance
    • 80'
Ulloa is now on for the visitors as Leicester go for broke. Rather worryingly for the Gunners - Aaron Ramsey has gone down injured and the subsitute has had to be replaced by Mathie Flamini for the final stages of this contest.
    • 81'
SI L. Ulloa SO M. Özil
    • 81'
      W. Morgan is done for the day. L. Ulloa is his replacement.
    • 82'
SI M. Flamini SO M. Özil
    • 82'
      A. Ramsey is replaced with M. Flamini.
    • 83'
Arsenal are now starting to win the ball higher up the pitch but crucially they can't find that killer ball to put this game to bed. Nigel Pearson will be very proud of the character that his players have shown under very difficult circumstances.
    • 85'
The Foxes have made third and final change. The impressive Jeffrey Schlupp comes off and David Nugent enters the fray. Leicester have three strikers on the pitch but can they get them into the game?
    • 86'
SI D. Nugent SO M. Özil
    • 86'
      J. Schlupp is done for the day. D. Nugent is his replacement.
    • 88'
The match is getting rather scrappy with both sets of players complaining to the officials about perceived injustices. That will suit Arsenal who won't want the visitors to build up any sort of attacking momentum with so little of the game to go.
    • 89'
      D. Simpson is cautioned by the referee.
    • 89'
Giroud cushions a header down into the path of Flamini who listens to the calls of the crowd and does take on the shot. The strike isn't the best but it does take a deflection which will give Arsenal a corner and eat up some vital seconds.
    • 90'
It's all over here at the Emirates Stadium! Arsenal 2-1 Leicester City.
    • 90'
      O. Giroud gets yellow.
    • 45'
And that's half-time. Arsenal 2-0 Leicester City. The Foxes have it all to do in the second half. If there is another goal then it simply has to be for the visitors if they are to mount an unlikely comeback.
    • 90'
Arsenal look like they've done enough to see this through and pick up a much needed three points. The Foxes have put in a brave effort but they couldn't really capitalise on the pressure they had after getting the score back to 2-1.
    • 90'
Mahrez gets himself into a decent crossing position but his delivery bounces off Ulloa in the box and the striker ends up fouling Coquelin. Leicester are running out of time and look increasingly desperate in their attempts to fashion a chance for an equaliser.
