Portugal have not beaten France since April 1975, when they were 2-0 victories in Paris. Their most recent meeting came in the 2006 World Cup semi-finals as France ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a Zinedine Zidane penalty. History is certainly on the side of les Bleus tonight!

GOOOOOOAL! FRANCE TAKE AN EARLY LEAD! Griezmann's cutback rolls all the way through to Sagna on the far side of the box and he fires a great shot back across goal. Rui Patricio gets a hand to it but the ball lands falls kindly for Benzema, who sweeps it into the back of the net!
    • 5'
What a start for the hosts! They had kept the ball well and it was a lovely move down the left that opened Portugal up ahead of the goal. Not the kind of beginning Fernando Santos would have wanted, and he is very animated on the sidelines.
    • 6'
Moutinho slips and it opens up space for Evra to use. He plays a give-and-go with Benzema and drives through the hole and into the box, but his cross is deflected behind for a corner.
    • 7'
GRIEZMANN! Portugal are all over the place at the moment and after Eliseu fails to deal with Matuidi appropriately, Griezmann races up the outside and surges into the box. Wanting to shoot with his left, he attempts to stab the ball into the far corner with the outside of his boot but sends it strai
    • 9'

    • 10'
Nani gets on the ball on the left and he plays it back to Andre Gomes on the edge of the box. He has the chance to try and bend a shot into the far corner but instead tries an intricate reverse pass which is intercepted by the France defence.
    • 11'
MILES OFF TARGET! Varane goes on a marauding run down the left and cuts a pass back to Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid man fails to make space to shoot and the ball ends up running back to Varane. The centre-back then clips a cross to the back post for Benzema, who slices a volley well high, and wide
    • 12'
WHAT A MISS! Ronaldo takes a quick throw from the right which finds Danny in space inside the box. He shapes to try and curl an effort inside the far corner but ends up skying his shot! It was a truly woeful attempt at finding the back of the net.
    • 14'
Griezmann spreads the play from right to left with an exquisite, driven pass that finds Valbuena. He spots the overlapping run of Evra but sends the pass too far behind him and contrives to kick it straight out for a goal kick!
    • 16'
Portugal are beginning to find their feet now, but Ronaldo seems to be trying to do everything in the opposing half. There has not been much link-up play between him, Nani, and Danny.
    • 17'
WHAT A CHANCE! Pogba makes a great run down the channel and cuts the ball back from the byline. Benzema and Griezmann are in there but a Portugal shirt gets to it first and clears the danger away.
    • 19'
France are having plenty of joy down the right and this time it is Sagna who gets to the byline and looks to square the ball across the face of goal. Pepe is the first man to it and hooks the cross away from the net.
    • 21'
JUST WIDE! Mangala is caught in possession by Nani and the winger races across the box before rolling a low shot back across goal for the far corner. It is out of the reach of Mandanda and it bobbles just outside the post! A great chance for the visitors to draw level.
    • 23'
Moutinho attempts to clip the ball over the top of Mangala for Nani to run onto, but he puts too much power on the pass and the Sporting winger is unable to keep it in play.
    • 25'
France look far more dangerous than their opponents when they have the ball and it is largely because they are attacking with great speed and quick passes. Portugal have been largely pedestrian up to now, with Cedric looking fairly vulnerable at right-back.
    • 27'
The Seleccao catch France on the break and mange to earn themselves a corner. Moutinho's delivery falls to Andre Gomes on the edge of the box and he blazes a shot high of the target.

    • 31'
Portugal again look to catch France on the counterattack, with Eliseu busting a lung to get around the outside of Ronaldo. He receives the ball at the byline but sends his cross all the way out for a throw to France on the far side!
    • 33'
      E. Mangala is yellow-carded.
    • 33'
Almost an own goal! Valbuena's free kick is headed by Pepe back towards his own net. The ball looks to be looping beyond Rui Patricio but the keeper gets a hand to it and forces it behind for a corner kick.
    • 35'
Portugal are looking to hold onto possession now and slow the tempo of the game to a level of their choosing. Nani comes deep and attempts to angle a long ball over the top for Ronaldo's run around the back and only succeeds in chipping it into Mandanda's hands.

Griezmann releases Evra down the left with a lovely pass and the Juve right-back manages to cut inside of Pepe. However, he hestiates before putting his cross in and the centre-back is able to get back in place to block it. Benzema was alone at the back post!
    • 40'
MATUIDI! The France captain runs beyond Valbuena and fires a shot towards goal from an acute angle. Rui Patricio has his angles right, though, and blocks it at his near post.
    • 41'
Ronaldo has to do better there! The rampant Real Madrid man is stood up by Sagna inside the box but he lets the ball get away from him as he tries some stepovers to beat his marker.
    • 43'
France are doing a fantastic job of keeping a straight back four at the moment! Once more they all fall into line at the right moment to play Ronaldo offside.

    • 52'
WHAT A SAVE, MANDANDA! Nani is stood up by Varane out on the left but he manages to work the ball onto his left foot and clips a cross towards the back post. It is met by the head of Ronaldo and his header back across goal is only kept out of the net by the strongest of hands from Mandanda, and Mang
    • 53'
Portugal are starting to turn up the pressure now. Ronaldo has a shot from 25 yards blocked and soon after Cedric whips in a cross from the right, but it flies straight into the grasp of Mandanda.
    • 55'
Portugal are defending with a very high line at the moment, squeezing France back inside their own half. However, with Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe currently at centre-back they could easily be caught on the break with a bit of pace.
    • 57'
France aren't showing the same level of fluidity in attack at the moment. However, Rui Patricio slips as he goes across to clear the ball and only just beats Griezmann to it to send it out for a throw in.

SI D. Payet SO Bruno Alves
    • 58'

    • 60'
Eliseu finally manages to get a decent cross into the box but Nani is just a little too far away to beat Mandanda to it at the near post.
    • 61'
Ronaldo claims for a handball as Varane runs across him and intercepts the ball, and he certainly has a case. The officials saw nothing in it, though!
    • 62'
William Carvalho lifts an exquisite long pass over the defence but Nani's poor first touch sends him wide. He backheels a pass to the feet of Danny but the Zenit St Petersburg forward slips as he looks to shoot and the threat vanishes.

Payet tries to bend a shot into the far corner from the left side of the area but he fails to bring his shot back inside the post and subsequently misses the target.
    • 65'
Portugal's best spell of the game has passed without them getting a goal, and France look to be finally finding their feet in the second half. They have let their performance drop since the break, but appear comfortable with their single-goal lead.
    • 67'
Fernando Santos has Eder readied on the sideline. He will surely come on for either Nani or Danny.

    • 73'
Portugal failed to make the most of their impressive start to the half and now find themselves 2-0 down. There is plenty of work for Fernando Santos to do with this side.
    • 75'
WIDE FROM RONALDO! The forward is teed up by Eder and his volley crashes into Varane before going wide of Mandanda's post! He claims there was a hand involved, but they were certainly hopeful!

    • 87'
