Maicosuel out of Udinese's UEL squad

Udinese has omitted Brazilian midfielder Maicosuel from its 25-man squad list for the UEFA Europa League group stage.

The 26-year-old came under fire after his careless penalty miss denied the Zebrette qualification for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Maicosuel was the only player to miss his spot-kick in a shoot-out against Braga, ineffectively trying to catch out Portuguese goalkeeper Beto with a chipped 'Panenka' shot.

Braga went on to win 5-4, with outraged Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin immediately threatening to leave his post at the Stadio Friuli.

The former Palermo boss, who was persuaded to stay by club owner Giampaolo Pozzo, has seemingly not forgiven his northern summer signing from Botafogo, dropping him for last weekend's Serie A meeting with Juventus and now leaving him off his Europa League squad list.

Maicosuel will be unavailable against Anzhi Makhachkala on 20 September, and will also play no part against Liverpool or Young Boys as Udinese looks to progress from Group A.
