Real Madrid players will wear kits made from recycled ocean plastic during the 13th round of LaLiga against Sporting Gijon later this month.
The jerseys are the result of a collaboration between Adidas and Parley for the Oceans, a movement that aims to preserve the environment.
Real Madrid will be the second European club to use the material on a match day after Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on November 5.
"At this point, it's no longer just about raising awareness," Cyrill Gutsch, founder of Parley for the Oceans, said.
"It's about taking action and implementing strategies that can end the cycle of plastic pollution for good."
