Lekhwiya extends advantage

Lekhwiya powered further clear at the top of the Qatari League with a 3-1 home win over lowly Umm Salal as nearest challenger Al Rayyan slumped to defeat.

First-half goals from Ali Afif and Beli Moumouni Dagano put Lekhwiya in charge, and although Umm Salal halved the deficit immediately after the interval, Dagano's second goal 11 minutes from time sealed the victory.

Lekhwiya now boasts an 11-point lead over second-placed Al Rayyan, which saw its four-match winning streak ended by a 3-2 defeat at third-placed Al Jeish.

Al Rayyan scored first and last through goals from Afonso Alves (13) and Barbosa Rodrigo Tabata (80), but host side Al Jeish netted three times in between through Abdulkader Elias (13), an Adriano Martins penalty (34) and Anderson Martinez (58) to take the win.
