Perth Glory has snapped up goalkeeper Andrew Crews on a four-week, short-term contract as a replacement for the injured Jason Petkovic.
Petkovic is expected to be out for four weeks with an ankle ligament injury suffered against Melbourne Victory in the Pre-Season Cup last weekend, so new coach Ron Smith has moved quickly to sign Crews.
"Although young Aleks Vreteski has plenty of potential, we need an experienced goalkeeper as back-up in the lead up to the start of the Hyundai A-League competition," said Smith.
"I have known Andrew for a few years and know that he can do a good job for us."
"I've included him for the weekend’s match against Adelaide United and he is very well placed to be able to step up when needed."
Crews, 32, played for Sydney United, Parramatta Power and Wollongong Wolves in the old NSL. He has recently been playing with Marconi Stallions in the NSW Premier League.
Glory takes on Adelaide United at Dorrien Gardens, West Perth on Sunday (kick-off 3pm local time) in round 3 of the Pre-Season Cup.
