It’s same-again Socceroos for do-or-die Denmark duel

It looks like a case of same again for Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk with the Dutchman set to field an unchanged line-up for the win-or-bust FIFA World Cup duel with Denmark in Samara.

It’s understood that van Marwijk thought long and hard about shuffling his deck, with Australia needing a more offensive mindset after their opening 2-1 Group C loss to France.

Denmark, with a three-point buffer after their 1-0 victory over Peru, have the luxury of not having to chase the game.

Hence shrill calls, from pundits and ex-Socceroos alike, to recall legendary striker Tim Cahill.

However those calls appear to have fallen on deaf ears with van Marwijk poised to hand a sixth successive start up top to the willing, but raw, Andrew Nabbout.

Cahill, who missed out against France, may have to bide his time on the bench, and hope to make an impact as the action unfolds.

It’s likely that both Robbie Kruse and Mathew Leckie will occupy the wings, this time with a brief to get at the Danes.

Skipper Mile Jedinak and Aaron Mooy, both outstanding against Les Bleus, look destined to fill the midfield screening roles.

Tom Rogic, who was been struggling to make an impact under van Marwijk, is primed to be handed another chance, while the back four of Josh Risdon, Trent Sainsbury, Mark Milligan and Aziz Behich pick themselves, as does keeper Mat Ryan.

While solid against France, Australia lacked adventure and a cutting edge - commodities that will be crucial against the Danes.

But van Marwijk, despite pressure to tinker, looks to have shown his faith in the team which rightly earned multiple accolades for their display against France.
