Socceroos defender Alex Gersbach is the latest Australian to sign for Danish Superliga side AGF Aarhus.
As first reported by The World Game on Friday, the 22-year-old negotiated a release from the remaining two years of his contract with relegated Dutch side NAC Breda, and will join fellow Socceroo Mustafa Amini and rookie midfielder Zach Duncan in Denmark’s top flight.
The former Sydney FC left-back has signed a three-year deal with the five-time Danish champions.
Gersbach had offers from Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets, but opted to remain in Europe.
“From my time in Norway I know about Scandinavian football and the level, so when the opportunity arose, I wanted to go to the Super League and when AGF came on the pitch I was immediately interested,” Gersbach told AGF’s official website.
“I know Mustafa Amini from the national team and from him, I've only heard good things about the club, the traditions, the coaches, the facilities and the supporters.
“I'm really glad it's been here and now I'm just looking forward to contributing and working hard for the team's success.”
Along with his time at NAC, Gersbash has had spells with French side Lens and Norwegian side Rosenborg since leaving the A-League.
