Sampdoria striker Francesco Flachi has been suspended for 16 months after testing positive for cocaine.

Sampdoria striker Francesco Flachi has been suspended for 16 months after testing positive for cocaine.

Flachi tested positive following Sampdoria's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Internazionale on January 28.

He was provisionally suspended in February and missed the rest of the season.

The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) had sought a two-year ban but the Italian football league took a more lenient stance as it was Flachi's first offence.
