FC Pyunik off to winning start in UCL

FC Pyunik scored either side of half-time to register a 2-1 victory over 10-man Folgore in the opening leg of its UEFA Champions League first-qualifying round tie.

The teams are competing for the chance to face Molde in the next round and Vardges Satumyan put the Armenian host ahead in first-half stoppage-time.

Cesar Romero came on for the second half and wasted little time in adding his own name to the scoresheet - putting Pyunik 2-0 up in the 48th minute.

Folgore of San Marino subsequently had Fabio Ceschi sent off for a second bookable offence in the 71st minute, but Adolfo Hirsch reduced the deficit with a valuable away goal within a minute.

Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps failed to make home advantage count as it drew the first leg of its qualifier for the second successive season - held 0-0 by FC Santa Coloma of Andorra.

Meanwhile, it was also goalless between Crusaders and Levadia in Belfast.
