A hat-trick from Mohamed Ibrahim has helped Egypt into the Round of 16 at the FIFA under 20 World Cup after hammering Austria 4-0 in Cartegena.
The victory was not enough to lift Egypt into first place past group winner Brazil, who won the group on goal difference.
Austria had started the brighter of the two sides, and early on Ahmed Sobhi was forced to clear off the line after a free-kick from Christian Klem.
Shortly after Robert Zulj missed a chance to put Austria ahead.
The match then turned into an end-to-end contest, before Mohamed Ghazi’s deflected long-range shot opened the scoring for Egypt.
The game was all but over by the hour mark, once Mohamed Ibrahim scored his first, followed by his second a few minutes later and the hat-trick completed eight minutes from time.
