Milos Degenek scored as Red Star Belgrade remained on track for a second consecutive UEFA Champions League group stage appearance after drawing 2-2 with Young Boys in their first-leg playoff.
Degenek's Red Star, who beat champions Liverpool 2-0 in last season's group stage, had their lead cancelled late in a 2-2 draw in Bern on Thursday (AEST).
Roger Assale gave the Swiss side a perfect start in just the seventh minute before Socceroos centre-back Degenek rose to head in Marko Marin's corner in the 18th minute.
Mateo Garcia then put Red Star in front in the 46th minute before Guillaume Hoarau's 76th-minute penalty levelled for Young Boys, meaning it is all to play for in next week's second leg in the Serbian capital.
Meanwhile, Dinamo Zagreb are fancied to return to the Champions League group stage after a 2-0 first-leg playoff win over Rosenborg.
Bruno Petkovic scored in the eighth minute from the penalty spot and then 20 minutes later Mislav Orsic doubled the lead.
Barring any capitulation in Norway next week, the Croatian side will return to Europe's elite competition after two seasons away.
Olympiacos got the job done in their home leg as they beat Russian side Krasnodar 4-0.
Miguel Angel Guerrero, Lazar Randjelovic (two) and Daniel Podence put the Greek side on the brink of the group stage after a year spent in the Europa League.
