Chelsea legend Drogba throws his support behind #SaveHakeem

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has joined the likes of Robbie Fowler, Sam Kerr and Gary Lineker in throwing his support by the '#SaveHakeem' movement.

Drogba, who led Chelsea to their only UEFA Champions League title in 2012, tweeted his support for detained footballer Hakeem al-Araibi on Saturday night (AEDT).
Melbourne-based refugee Al-Araibi has been in a Thai prision for over 60 days after his arrest as he arrived in Bangkok for his honeymoon.

On Friday night it was announced that the 25-year-old faces a potentially lengthy trial after Thailand's Attorney-General approved Bahrain's extradition request.

Drogba is not the only famous footballer supporting the Pascoe Vale defender, with Matildas star Sam Kerr, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler and England legend Gary Lineker all getting behind the cause.
This weekend all A-League and W-League clubs expressed their support before matches by holding up a banner.
Meanwhile, there has been support shown by local clubs in Australia as well as fans in Thailand.
Football is not the only sport to add their name to the movement, with Olympic swimming legend Ian Thrope joining a chorus of athletes in supporting Al-Araibi.
