Cameroon has claimed the runner-up berth in Group B at the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, and sent Uruguay crashing out after a 1-0 win in Bogota.

Both sides started slowly, and the first glimpse on goal came for Cameroon with a wild effort from Idriss Nguessi.

Cameroon then found its groove, with Emmanuel Mbongo's 28th minute goal proving decisive after finishing from close range.

Uruguay goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo then almost cost his side a second goal, missing a cross, running into team-mate Leandro Cabrera presenting a chance to Cameroon striker Franck Ohandza whose effort went just wide.

Uruguay came close to levelling the scores before the break, with an effort from Diego Polenta going wide, and Diego Rodriguez's shot saved by Jean Efala.

Efala was in action at the start of the second period, saving from Polenta before Mbondi had an effort denied.
