Cahill's kid Kyah jumps onto League Two stage

Tim Cahill’s football family tree is expanding - with oldest son Kyah beginning his own quest for success at modest League Two side Macclesfield Town.

With younger brother Shae, 14, joining Everton’s academy set-up last month, and club legend Tim also set to land a coaching role with the Toffees, the Cahill football factory is in top gear.

Gen next hopeful Kyah, 16, joined the mid-table Cheshire club’s youth set up several months back, with minimal fanfare or fuss.

But the youngster, who six years ago described himself as a “theatre kid” pursuing a future as a singer, actor and performer, suddenly finds himself making inroads on a very different stage.

Back then, aged 10, he memorably belted out the Star Spangled Banner before a New York Red Bulls game during Tim’s tenure in the MLS, as his proud dad watched on.

The budding attacking weapon appears to have inherited some of the predatory prowess of record Socceroos goalscorer Cahill senior, netting consistently for Macclesfield’s U-19 B team, winning man of the match accolades along the way.

It’s understood he is highly regarded by the Silkmen’s youth development chief Kyle Lord, as he takes the first steps on his journey.

Macclesfield, meanwhile, are in financial strife, with former coach Sol Campbell chasing $350,000 in unpaid wages and the UK tax office pursuing a winding up order.
