The 28 year-old struggled to cement a starting XI spot at the Roar, despite arriving at the beginning of the season with expectations of filling the gap left by former Brisbane and now Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha.
Kurtishi had not played since being substituted at half-time in the Roar’s match with Western Sydney Wanderers early last month and scored one goal in nine appearances for Brisbane.
Roar’s director of football, Ken Stead, revealed that the club was close to announcing new signings after considering a range of options involving Australian and overseas-based players.
“We have a very busy second half of the season with Asian Champions League matches added to our normal program and we need to have strong competition for places right across the park,’’ Stead said.
