Brisbane Roar have confirmed that French winger Eric Bautheac will sign for the A-League club next week, subject to a medical.

The 30-year-old attacker is a free agent after his stint with Ligue 1 side Lille concluded at the end of last season and announced his intention to continue his career in Australia on social media.

"My wish was to play abroad, discover a new country, a new culture and offer my children a crazy adventure!!" Bautheac posted on Instagram, with an accompanying image of a Roar jersey.

"That's why today I announce my signature in Australia, in the club of Brisbane Roar.

"It was not an easy decision because it's still on the other side of the world!!

"But today I need a new challenge in my career, in my life ..."

Bautheac has played more than 170 games in the top flight of French soccer with Lille, Nice and Dijon and scored 26 goals.

Roar coach John Aloisi said he is delighted to welcome a player with UEFA Europa League experience and is confident Bautheac can make a valuable contribution.

"We are looking forward to adding Eric to our talented squad. He is a top quality footballer who has played at the highest level in France for many years," Aloisi said.

"He is the left sided attacker we have been patiently searching for.

"His pace and European experience will cause opposition defences plenty of problems we believe."

Roar's latest recruit will be among the new faces in Aloisi's squad after the signings of Italian marquee Massimo Maccarone, ex-Melbourne Victory winger Fahid Ben Khalfallah, forward Corey Gameiro, midfielder Mitch Oxborrow and striker Petros Skapetis.
