The Socceroos shot-stopper, currently away with the Australian squad for a training camp in Turkey, praised the attitude of Brighton's summer transfer window signings.
He said the club has adopted a "no d***heads policy" in regards to player signings - a term first coined by New Zealand rugby juggernauts the All Blacks.
And it is something which is sure to play a big role for the club in their second straight season in the English top flight with the side's squad depth set to be tested.
"It's a credit to the individuals and the club itself," Ryan told The Argus.
"What they look for in players and when they bring players to the club.
"It's real professionals, no one with egos, a no d***heads policy."
Ryan admitted the "no d***heads" mantra originated by Australia's biggest rugby foes in New Zealand and said: "They're a rival of mine!"
"But, whatever they do in that team, it would be nice to copy because they are pretty dominant."
