Boca, Velez share eight goals

Martin Palermo equalled Roberto Cherro's club goalscoring record as Boca Juniors drew 4-4 with Velez in the Argentinian Clausura.

Palermo hit his 218th goal for Boca to tie the late Cherro's all-time mark, but could not inspire a win for the team who have now drawn five of their seven matches during this campaign.

Boca led 3-1 at one stage thanks to goals from Luciano Monzon, Palermo - who had missed a penalty before his goal - and Osvaldo Gaitan.

Velez, whose point took them into a share of top spot, had earlier taken the lead through Víctor Zapata, and after shipping three goals they came back with three in 20 minutes. Santiago Silva scored after 62 and 82 minutes, sandwiching a goal from Juan Martínez.

Chilean midfielder Gary Medel had the final say for Boca, however, equalising in the 89th minute.

Co-leaders Colon and Godoy Cruz, who each have a game in hand on Velez, will have the chance to reassert themselves with midweek fixtures to come against Banfield and Lanus respectively.

Arsenal jumped three places to 16th place, with Javier Yacuzzi, Mauro Obolo and Sergio Sena scoring in a 3-2 victory over the still-winless Rosario Central.

The night's other match saw defender Eduardo Domínguez grab an 89th-minute leveller to earn a point for Huracan away to Racing, who had led since Claudio Bieler put them ahead after 16 minutes.
